Despite your reservations about Jorgie, did she really deserve a 6.5?

Yeah I picked up on it last week on the VT. He kept saying about slowing her up and her needing to be more controlled in her skating. Her charm was the fact she attacked everything and now she just seems so reserved.

I thought Jorgie's routine was deathly dull and poorly performed, but the very idea that Robin would gave any skater, particularly a front-runner, a 5.5 at the quarter-final stage is frankly lolarious. He gave Johnson a 7.0 and the man, whilst endearing, could barely stand up.

So now the fact that she is boring and cant skate well is her partners fault. Anybody else you can blame

It was a 6.5 in relation to her other routines, imo. She's actually started skating less then she did in the beginning. I found the routine bland and boring which isn't her fault but she did seem to not be completely in the moment. I like Jorgie but I felt she was the weakest tonight and deserved to go (although it wasn't a shock that she didn't).

7.5 would have been better from Louie. Not good to mark them down at this stage of the competition unless they make a clear mistake.

No, I thought that mark was a bit unfair. It should have got 7 or even 7.5.

I thought compared to the other routines 6.5 was fair.

I don't think that score was right at all! The routine would of been more of a disaster had they become tangled in that ribbon, at which point I would of agreed with the score. The fact Jorgie had complete control over her prop, despite the problems it could of caused and the fact she had clean and precise skate, she should scored higher.

For me, tonight, it seemed that the more props the skater had, the messier it became. No one (and again, this is just me, no one has to agree) had a clean skate except Jorgie.

I think Louie's mark was harsh but for me she should have been 4th on the leaderboard only above Jen. It may not have been her fault that she got a dull routine & awful music but equally the judges can't throw out 9s & 10s for it either, to me that would be akin to them giving sympathy scores cos someones injured.

Who didn't have a clean skate? They all had a clean skate and with far more technical routines than Jorgie had with her forward skating, lift, more forward skating. Jorgie didn't even master her prop. You are supposed to keep the ribbon moving but the only time she moved it was when her feet weren't on the ice. When she actually had to skate the ribbon was simply left to stream out behind her or was held by her and Matt together. So I agree with Louie - bland , boring , no technical content, no expression, no oomph and deservedly last place on leaderboard.

I agree, and it was, as Louie said, bland.
I think Jorgie had the ability at the start but seems to have lost her game, lost the challenge, the drive. Not sure why. And it's not since the accident with Matt, I think it's before that.

She did a good performance but not as challenging as the others but I thought 8.5 but no lower would be appropriate but I am not a professional and neither is Louie. Louie is not qualified to be a judge as far as I'm concerned, those who put him there have to face up to the fact he is not up to the job, simple as that.

I think we can all agree that the judges have favorites! I looked at Matthews performance and he done similar to Jorgie. He was skating through the lines and only done about 2 crossovers, the only thing that Jorgie and Matthew didn't have the same was the number of props. Clearly the judges has favorites and one is Matthew, come on Matthew hardly danced and got a 9.5 from Louie and yeah Jorgie did skate through lines (like Matthew) but she alot more dancing lines and got 6.5! To me the whole routine wasn't down to Jorgie, she is given music and choreography and then told to skate what she has been learnt. And that is what Jorgie done. Lots of people at DOI disagreed with Louie saying Jorgie's performance was 'bland' and 'boring' I for one, Christopher Dean, Philip Schofield, Karen Barber, Matt Evers, the crowd, Jorgies fans and Matthew Wolfenden!

The judging has been way off mark for this entire series.

It stands out a mile who are the judges favourites..and it does not help when they make comments like you WILL be in the final.

Louie done something quite nasty imo which is to mark extremely low for Jorgie in the hope of getting the competition out the way for Mathew and Chico.
I dont think they were happy that Chemmy and Chico were in the skate off either.

Jorgie handled her prop perfectly, she made it look elegant and even pulled the throw catch off to perfection.
For me some of the other routines looked messy and not as difficult to handle and was more about acting than dancing on ice.
How can a judge give more points based on the fact that someone had 3 props instead of 1 when the decision on props is not in the hands of the celeb skater.
I have to say apart from the bizzare scoring I have not enjoyed the changes this year.
I cant take to Katrina,Louie is a waste of space and I would much rather have lost Schofield than Willoughby.
I thought the props week was dull,I prefered the older way of giving the skaters a basic prop like table and chair..a microphone, etc and I hated the whole idea of a theme, especially circus theme.

Ive loved the choise of celebs this year but Im hating the general look to the show now.
Please ditch Louie and bring back Jason.

She did a lot of skating in her routine last night, more than in some recent weeks. So I don't see how she can have "started skating less then she did in the beginning". Besides, the amount of skating vs other things in the routine is down to Torvil and Dean.

(The idea that she wasn't completely in the moment is odd as well. The routine flowed smoothly and gracefully. What supposedly showed she wasn't "in the moment"?)

(Another strange comment, in posts from other people, is that Jorgie had the easiest prop. Not according to T&D. They said it was the most difficult.)

I think last nights marks show a fundamental problem with DOI as it is currently done. How can someone be marked down so much for things that are out of their control, such as the amount of technical content or -- much worse -- the number of props they're given?

It was clear that Jorgie's partner, Torvil & Dean, Phil, Robin, and much of the audience struggled to make sense of what happened.

Meanwhile, Louis seems to think his marks should be about whether he personally liked it or was excited by it. That's like if I were an SCD judge and I gave all the hammed-up Charlestons 2 or 3 points max.

No bias there then.

I agree you about Jorgie's routine (well said!) and most the rest. However, I like Katarina and, though Louis has shown imo that he should not be a judge, I'm not sure I'd want Jason back.

Re the judges having favourites, I'm not sure what Louis was up to, but there was a post last night that set out all the marks in a nice form, and Louis's mark for Jorgie looks suspiciously like an attempt to make sure she was at the bottom of the leader-board.

All of the other marks from all the judges are in "gap-free" sequences (no unused marks in between), but Louis left two unused marks (7.0 and 7.5) between Jorgie and Jennifer. That did indeed put Jorgie below Jen in the totals (Robin and Katarina's marks, added together, had them tied) and would have done so even if the other judges had (added together) put Jen slightly ahead.

To be honest, Im not entirely sure I am happy with how the whole thing played out from the very start - which is the decision to have Jorgie as a gymnast with a ribbon, as part of a circus routine.

Everyone else had more than one prop, and were given roles that one would really expect to see in a circus setting - Magician/Strongman/Lion Tamer/Clown. A gymnast with a ribbon I would expect to see in a gymnastics competition? So for me the idea fell down from the start, and to be honest, I think that is T & D failing, and also Karens - as she could have suggested something else to T & D if like me, she felt it didnt suit the shows theme.
To give one person one prop, and everyone else several simply doesnt work, it is almost impossible to give an honest comparison, as the routines are going to be vastly different.

I dont know if I believe any down-marking was intentional - and I would certainly like to think Jorgie wasnt "set up for a fall", and that the playing field as it were, was fair. But I do think it was a mistake by the choreographers to do something so different with one person when everyone else was working along comparable lines.

ETA: changed wording to make more sense

Even Matt W tweeted last night that Jorgie didn't deserve to be at the bottom of the leaderboard and urged others to vote for her to keep her out of the skate-off. And then added "Oh and vote for me too if ya want to".
He's gone up even more in my estimation after his selfless tweet as it would have been highly advantageous for him to see Jorgie eliminated.

Matt W, Jorgie, Matt E and Nina are all big pals .. I get the impression that Matt E and Nina stay with Matt W and his girlfriend Charlie Webb when they're training (going by twitter) so it could be more of a case of him wanting to keep his mates in the competition than him thinking she didn't deserve to be bottom of the leader board ..... on actual skating I thought that both Chemmy and Chico deserved to be higher than her with only Jen's routine being worse (skating content wise)

Thanks for linking that post about the gap in marking,it highlights the oddness of Louis mark for Jorgie,it would make more sense if she failed to handle her prop or tripped but to downgrade on points by that merit simply for not finding the routine interesting makes no sense to anyone except Louis it seems.
Regarding Jason,I know a lot of people found him rude and obnoxious at times but for me he gave a little edge to the show in my opinion.
I liked that he didnt give criticism wrapped in cotton wool,he told it as it was but unfortunately he took it to extremes too often.
For me this panel of judges doesnt have the personality or bite of previous panels.
I find Katarina too dull, she reminds me of the role Aleshia Dixon took in Strictly but at least shes fairer than Louis with the points and being fair to her she is more than qualified to judge so my objection to her is slight...I think what sums it up for me is too many changes all at once.
