I agree it's been overpraised for what it is, but I still think it's not bad.

I didn't enjoy it one bit. I wanted to see what the fuss was about plus i love Gosling and Mulligan. I was bored and i felt there wasn't really much to it. People moaned this was snubbed by oscars and i can understand why, so the oscars got something right in the end.

Oh, god. I cannot be the only one who can't stand Tarantino and his crappy films.

I thought it was VERY violent...

It was OK, nothing more.

Quite stylishly made, but little substance to it.

I really enjoyed the film - partly I think because I watched it we no knowledge of it's reviews / content etc.

I just assumed it was going to be standard Hollywood fare - effects, car chases etc, so was pleasantly surprised when it turned out not to be.

I can see what the OP means though, I felt exactly the same about The Wrestler - just couldn't see what all the fuss was about!

I think as the ratings, IMDB etc are high is that most people really enjoyed it, not everyone sees the same thing in a film.

I loved it but I hated 'Black Swan' which has fawning reviews and ratings, that's just the way it goes! I'm not saying Black Swan is crap it's just I didn't enjoy it.

People seem to get so uptight when a film, that they hated, gets good reviews, get over it!!

Haha I agree with this. Well, the part about Tarantino anyway. Overrated filmaker if ever there was one.
Drive was ok, worth watching once, but yeah it's no great shakes. Boring for a lot of the time tbh.

The plot is a bit weak, but the film, per se, is well directed and well made

It passed the time, but it's not a film I would ever want to watch again. I felt like it was trying way too hard to be arty and I also found the weird blaring music pretty annoying.

It could have been a better film if it had more dialogue to it.Half way through i found myself fast forwarding as i knew there wouldnt be anyone talking just nice background music.....zzzzz

Its like tron legacy. you watch on a nice screen with a good sound system and get into the "zone", if you watch on a portable or something silly then yea you are going to have a lesser experience.

Quentin Tarantino would and could never have made Drive, his head would have exploded if he had to write a character with as little dialogue as Scorpion-boy.

I thought Drive was OK, decent in fact, not drivel or tripe or a load of rubbish, but neither was it 'a masterpeice' or 'film of the year' either.

I've just rented it, as the reviews were so good. Seriously unimpressed with it. I thought it started out ok with the stunt scene and the getaway car drive, but after that it was tedium, interspersed with scenes of mindless, extreme violence....then more tedium. The goons were a parody. So agree with the OP

This.

A waste of a Lovefilm rental, and over an hour of my time I won't get back any time soon.
