It's unlikely she will keep selling at the current pace since the song is shit and radio is not playing it for that reason. It's already dropping in Ireland.

Personally, I think it will finish in the Top 5 with sales between 50-60K then sink like a stone in the next few weeks. A follow up single will be released shortly with a big profile featured artist holding her hand to guarantee a hit.”

Gotye sold 75k this week......around 10k decrease compared to the week before.......this week no1 is going to sell something like 65k (probably Gotye again)because he peaked and sales are decreasing a little bit... I can see very weak week sales wise with no6 and maybe no5 selling under 50k

ok.com incident did not bother me, i quite liked it but i think 'elephant' is a generic piece of poo with a cheap ass video.

she is better than this.

If it was going for #1 it would have been #1 on iTunes already due to pre-orders. No chance imo.

ok.com?

No, I dont think it has anything to do with that at all besides this happened a while ago. I think its due to lack of airplay. I mean I didnt even hear about this song when it came out. The song is no.5 on iTunes though so it should do well by the end of the week.

What was the big deal over ok.com in the first place? It was a throwaway comment and I thought it was funny. Actually I was really impressed with her judging on the X Factor. She was empathetic but frank and made a welcome change from the usual dreay 4.

Alex will do well with this song. She has momentum and a strong fanbase. The fact that it is doing so well despite zero radio support is even more impressive. Good for her, she is an amazing talent. One of the best females in the UK atm.

There is no deal. It's a huge phrase in America...so just watch it pick up here a few years down the line.....I don't know Alexandra saying it somehow makes her 'arrogant' and 'annoying'...what she had to say on the X Factor was totally constructive and honest, and not lies or hot air like Gary, Louis, Tulisa and sometimes Kelly.

Elephant will do well regardless of the snub, it's heading for a top 5 charting so that to me is an achievement considering the circumstances. She can sing the song live and puts on a good show. The people that like it are buying it and it's doing well tbh...

Regardless of her radio support, I thought Alexandra crazy fanbase would've taken her to number 1, or top 3 at the least considering the serious lack of competition and the amount of multiple purchases I know they've been doing. I think unless Radios jump on the bandwagon next week, she will drop like a stone down the charts.

I do think personality these days is a selling point of an artist, look at Katy Perry, Jessie J and Adele. They have a lot of appeal and not just because of their music. Think Alexandra's appeal has been slightly tainted after her X factor stint.
I really want to like her because she does produce some decent music (All night long) but I just find her annoying which makes me not want to support her. Her fanbase are also incredibly in your face, defensive and very snidy, which the general public won't know about, but people on music forums (the people who buy the music most of the time) will know about them.

I think Alex' song is decent enough to go top 3, but people just aren't checking her these days

Ok.com actually sort of endeared me to her a little bit more. The problem with the song is that it's a little bit generic, and people are starting to tire of that brand of electro/rnb/pop. I hope her album goes back to her roots a little bit more, otherwise she could be in trouble.

But fair play to her for having such a dedicated fanbase and promoting the hell out of it to get this to #5 without any radio support.

Alexandra being utter shit is the reason shes not getting number 1

Not to mention Leona had a performance on a highly hyped prime time show on ITV, which averaged 6/7million viewers.

Why are people bringing in Leona?

I think most people just though the 'ok.com' was a wtf moment, like did she honestly just say that..(that was my reaction and people I know's reaction) though it's only on internet forums I've seen it repeatedly brought up. Yeah it was cringey as hell but most have probably moved on and don't even remember it.

Excuses coming in already lmao.
All theese Alex fans were saying it was a guaranteed number 1 like 2 months ago and i told them it wouldn't. Infact I was told Collide flopped from an Alex fan :L.
Elephant is getting more radio airplay than Collide had, so that argument is invalid
Her & the song are just generic & poor

iTunes has supposedly crashed because the popbars haven't updated and new songs haven't been added and made available and they should have been.....

Judging by the popbars before the alleged 'crash' Alexandra is already in the top 3.....the iTunes charts haven't changed for ages so I suspect something is up...

The song is going to get a top 5 position AT LEAST. I don't know how you can call Elephant generic when Collide wasn't much more original either...and that is coming from a Leona fan.

Not a true Leona fan & I haven't heard any vocals like Collide, it was fresh. Alex sounds like a autotune machine. A Wannabe Ke$ha lol!

I Know i was the first to say all it'd go to was top 5 & Alex stans were like "It'll be a worldwide number 1 defo!!". I was laughing so much, as i knew it wouldn't get no.1 under no competition

FFS can we leave off this Alex v. Leona thing.
They are 2 separate artists, with 2 separate sounds, each are brilliant in their own right.
I know both Leona and Alex respect each other, so surely it isn't asking too much for fans to do the same.
I am really loving the acoustic version of Elephant.

I don't think it has anything to do with x factor, I think it's just because it's not that powerful a song.

This

Your 100 per cent right

She should be doing music like Emeli Sande is doing personally.

Just because you don't like what I say there's no need to get personal. Alexandra showed up Tulisa and all the other judges in her brief guest stint in my view. Tulisa just shouts and wails wildly and has next to zero musical knowledge, Gary lied through his teeth and Louis was his usual bitchy self. I don't know why people are so hung up about this 'ok.com' thing anyway, besides that she was completely constructive and gave honest advice. But people seem to be ignoring that.

As for the single, it WILL do well. The fact that it is in the top 5 on iTunes has pretty much guaranteed that it will get at least that position come Sunday. And once again calling the song crap, slating her (and me) etc isn't really going to change that.

Does anyone actually know why Elephant isn't played on Capital or Radio 1 and not even on their playlists?

Radio 1 have had a vendetta against Alex since the beginning of 2010....their radio DJs often make jibes and jokes about her, Capital have always supported her up until now....I think it's because they thought she was unpopular with all the fuss people made over 'ok.com' but seeing as though it's #4 on iTunes now, they've been proven wrong.
