Should soap stars not be allowed in future?

Or anyone who has been on reality shows like TOWIE because of the fanbase getting them votes when they are crap (step forward Coleen Nolan, Emily off Emmerdale etc) or even if they are good (Matt and Jorgie) at the expense of other better skaters??

I don't think so. Coleen Nolan and Emily etc although they may have a big fan base haven't actually won a show as of yet. So in the end it all comes to more or less skating ability rather than fan base as such.

the soap connection definitely seems to keep some poor skaters in the show ..... or even win in the case of Gaynor Faye

but if you banned soap stars and reality stars you'd end up not finding anyone to go on the show .. you'd also have to apply the same rules to boyband members

Oh, I'd forgotten all about Gaynor. Yes, I'll make you right on that one.

There is no way that itv are not going to promote their horror movies(CS and emmerdale) on here

Since when was Coleen Nolan a soap star

If you banned people from the soaps or reality shows then what about banning pop stars or footballers etc they have a fanbase too.

It is pretty much impossible to get a full celeb line up that does not have a fan base of some sort and then people wont be interested anyway because they won't know the people taking part.

Being in a soap does not automatically guarantee you the votes to get far in the competition though.

Steven Arnold went out early so did Gemma Bissex, Laila Morse from this year obviously so it does not mean they come with a built in fanbase ready to save them yes there are exceptions and some do go on with the fanbase they have but think its silly to say you shouldn't have certain genres of people on because they will have a fanbase that might keep them in the competition longer than they should be in some cases.

apart from when he partnered Kerry Katona, Dan's always had a soap actress

Which pretty much ensures he is in for the long haul every year

Again flawed theory as soap stars do not automatically get the votes the ones I named above did not stay in the show long so soap stars do not always stay in for the long haul.

Dan has mostly had the soap stars because he is based in the North and most of the female soap stars who have particapted have been from the Northern soaps which is why he got partnered with them its not exactly a conspiracy.

yeah IMO it does help .. especially when they're all reasonably young/attractive so they're going to look good when carried around

Jennifer and Roxanne are the only partners that have been youngish.

Gaynor, Emily and Linda were all older than him Hayley around the same age and even Kerry was 30 not old by any means but certainly not one of the younger ones like Jorgie or Emily Atack etc.

Again I ask why was it not a problem when Bonnie, Suzanne and so on all got carried around by Matt? posters here don't have a problem but when its Dan then its crime of the century.

I said "reasonably" young or attractive ..... Gaynor, Emily and Linda may not be teenagers but none of them were in the same bracket agewise as Laila, Angela, Rossemary, Denise etc ... and my point was that because they were all reasonably young and attractive they can get away more with being carried around doing balletic poses

yes Matt has carried some of his partners around (as have a number of the other pros although I don't agree that Suzanne was constantly carried, she did some decent skating too) ... but for me Dan is the king of the carriers .... not his fault as he can't help the people he's paired with or the choreograhy he's given .......... I appreciate that you're a big Dan fan (and defender )

and just for the record I don't dislike Dan, I quite like him, I just think that he does seem to get given a lot of partners and choreograhy that involves a lot of carrying

Yes I might be a big Dan fan however it does bug me on here that when other pro skaters do exactly the same things as Dan and they don't get criticised for it but Dan does I think its double standards and I don't think its fair as it seems to be one rule for the other pros and one for Dan and I don't get where the sudden hatred for him on here has come from.

Linda is actually the same age as Denise Welch although she obviously did the show a few years ago but she was 49 going on 50 when she participated so she is what I class as being in the older age bracket.

Or voters to boost the funds of ITV.

BUT - it might mean that the public actually voted on the best skaters for a change.

Contradicting your argument a bit there though aren't you as apparently the two best skaters this year are both soap stars. Or does that mean you don't think they are all that good after all?
