Hey guys,

I've had a song stuck in my head that is really winding me up - I don't KNOW any lyrics... I just know what I think the first line is...

It's very Aretha Franklin, old school R&B - Soul kind of music...

I think it's on an advert or been on a programme or film I've seen lately...

It's the sort of song you can imagine Ellen Degeneres dancing throught he crowd too.. probably a big gay anthem kind of song...

I think the first line is "what's your naaaaaaaammeee, girl?"

Any clues?! I can just hear the piano playing in the background, a very chirpy upbeat ska-like tune.

Eurghhh sorry for being so vague!!

Hi there,
I cant say i know the song you're on about but have you tried typing it into google cos i just did and it brought up a few suggestions of songs, one being Usher but thats not it from what you're describing. Then maybe you can youtube the songs to see which is the one you are thinking of.
I do this an awful lot because i often get unknown songs stuck in my head!

Take Care xxx

Oh god was Mama Do The Hump a real suggestion based on my description?

None of the above I'm afraid, can anyone name any singers/bands like aretha? black r&b/soul music from that era?

You can usually identify old songs with a line or 2 from the song using google search - found lots of songs this way.

Bump Bump
It's very disco/motown and the afore mentioned lyrics "whats your naaaaaaameeeee, girl?" sounds very similar to the opening line of "I Wanna Be Your Lover" by Prince if that helps?

It sounds like "She's Actin' Single and I'm Drinkin' Doubles" by the Analdeath Nuns. This was their second hit following "She's Looking Better After Every Beer."
