American Chocolate
I've travelled all over the world, and have never come close to meeting nicer people than the average American.
Lovely people, horrible chocolate. It makes no sense to me. Hershey bars? What the hell is that all about |

I bought loads of those Hershey Kisses last time I went to New York in 2007. They're still sat in my cupboard

![]() In order not to hurt her feelings we each took turns in removing a piece or two and putting it in the bins of other offices. Not only does it taste horrid, it affects you work environment. |

I had an American girlfriend who used to feel the same about our beloved Cadburys Fruit & Nut. It is almost worthy of execution.

In their defence, Ben and Jerry's chocolate ice cream is rather yummy.

Do they not like dark chocolate in the US? When I was there, it was milk chocolate or nothing anywhere I went.

What's wrong with Dove? It's the same as Galaxy. Mars, Snickers? You eat those over here too. What's wrong with Theo's, ScharffenBerger, and Amano? See's, Askinosie, etc...?

I'm sure the smaller businesses make some nice stuff, but we only readily get exposed to Hershey and Reece's |

Because American Chocolate = Hershey's! After about the 10 000th thread I would have thought you'd have twigged that by now!

Isn't a mars bar "Milky Way" in the US - I still recall the chocolate tasting different. Likewise Snickers. Mind you, I can tell the difference between Uk and 'Euro' chocolate as well, and that's down to the way it's made.

Oh, I don't know anymore. I don't eat crappy mass produced "chocolate" from either country.

A colleague retuned from Holiday and surprised us all by the "gift" of some American chocolate. It only took one bite to realise just how horrid it was. In fact when she left for the day we invited people into the office just to taste the bad chocolate.
In order not to hurt her feelings we each took turns in removing a piece or two and putting it in the bins of other offices. Not only does it taste horrid, it affects you work environment.

I can't really comment about many American chocolate bars, as I have only tasted a couple of miniature sweets brought back from holiday by relatives, but I remember eating a few chocolates out of a box of Cadbury's Milk Tray bought in Australia, and they were just odd tasting! Nothing like our chocolate at all, and while not disgusting or anything, they just didn't taste right, and I threw most of them out!

If only the good stuff were cheaper then we wouldn't have to eat the cheap and nasty stuff.

American Chocolate is vile stuff- always tastes 'stale', even when in the US.
That said, UK chocolate isn't all that great either, I usually go for dark chocolate like Divine or Hotel Chocolate bars- but Lordy lord! Have you tried a 'Bournville' bar? Nasty, powdery, mouth full of sugar rubbish! |

What Americans lack in the chocolate dept they make up for in the ice cream dept.
Although it's Justin's of Whitby's handmade for me. No-one else comes even close.
