Hi,

I've just purchased a Nokia Lumina 800 from CPW on an Orange upgrade. They never once asked me in store if I wanted any insurance, they just said your phone is covered for loss / damage etc. But having come hoem and read all the small print, it seems that I will be charged £13.99 per month. Is that right? It says that I have 14 days to cancel, so I think I will do that, as I'm always very careful with my phone. The paperwork says total cost of plan (£) 13.99, I assume that means total cost per month? And what is the insurance excess of £60.00 for? Should I complain to CPW that I wasn't even asked if I wanted to take out any insurance? Thank you for your help.

The £60 excess is the amount you have to pay in the event of any claim. So if you lose your phone you will get a replacement but will have to pay £60 towards the cost of the replacement.

If you definitely were not asked if you wanted insurance and the sales person just put it on anyway I would definitely complain

Ok thanks for that. I think I will cancel the policy though, as I can't really afford to be paying out an extra £13.99 per month on top of my monthly contract.

You should have been informed, its obvious the sales person wanted to boost their sales figures.

Besides you would have needed to sign the service plan, so I would query that aswell.
