LTE 1800MHz phones now on sale in UK
Good to see the first LTE handsets being offered fo sale ahead of the launch of LTE by Everything Everywhere later this year.
Found this varient of the Samsung Galaxy SII that has all the standard featues plus LTE 800, 1800 and 2600. (EEs frequncies plus those being auctioned later this year by Ofcom). http://www.simplyelectronics.net/mai...FQINfAodLzmF9Q |

From my research the Galaxy S2 is only available in separate LTE variants for specific markets.

I would much rather believe the specs listed on the shop website than GSM arena - as excellent as that site is, the specs listed are not gospel and often include errors.
Even if the phone does support LTE 1800, a small shop that is most likely selling grey market imports doesn't herald a massive introduction of these phones to the UK market. Let me know once Orange/T-Mobile start selling them. |

The company have not listed the full specification sadly but it definately suports all bands. EE will offer it as soon as they have LTE in service no doubt! |

I doubt everything everywhere will offer a 1 and a half year old phone as a new phone in December.

The SIII might be available by the time LTE launches but the LTE SII will still have a good spec and could be a good option if it is priced to compete. |

Ohh that's the Galaxy s2 HD that was rumoured ages ago but only ever came out in places like china, now Simply Electronics are selling it here. :/ - look at the specs, 4.65" 720p screen, that's not the same as the normal S2

The interesting point is that the chipset for LTE at various frequencies is already available so it should not take too long for it to appear in a range of handsets and modems. Nice spec smartphone all the same that is pretty futureproof. I would seiously consider paying £100 more for it over a UK spec SII. |

Everything Everywhere (Orange / T-Mobile) plan to use 4G on 1800Mhz is likely to face a legal challenge from Vodafone who are not best pleased with this!
"It comes as a surprise that the regulator is now considering giving the largest player in the market permission to use its existing spectrum for 4G services before the rules for the auction have even been concluded or it has divested spectrum as required by the European Commission," a spokeswoman said. "We seriously doubt that consumers' best interests will be served by giving one company a significant head start before any of its competitors have a clear path to 4G." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17355399 |
