I still think she could just about get that number 1, Dappy's Rockstar dropped to 8 on iTunes on the week of it's release but still managed to managed to get that number 2 position...so I reckon Alex still has pretty good chance of getting that number 1

This might sound stupid, but if I was Alex and I was 7,000 copies away from the number one spot, then I would just buy about 12,000 to make sure I got to number 1!!

there's a pretty big gap between 5 and 6 though, so hopefully she can stay at 5 for atleast the next few days!

I'm thinking this too..

Notice how R1 giving it one play made it rise by 20 places. SMH if they even put it on the B list and Capital spun it 3 times a week it could even be in the top 30. It would be a mega #1 if they all played it. Anyway the top 4 is really close in the grand scheme of things. Alex has done well. All the smaller radios are playing her as we can see.

I'm praying this. It'll speak volumes. I pray she just gets it. But it's looking like a Gotye #1 AGAIN. Honestly, the song is OLD now. And I don't see the hype, its ok. It's next week that counts more IMO. First weeks would be a top 3 anyway. But we must think about the album. I'd rather Elephant be a #2 and single 2 be #1 than Elephant #1 and single 2 to not be played at all (not that its likely to happen) and come in at #10 (like Pixie). I hope that popjustice's review of single 2 is a universally shared one.

See, Nero has 24 plays with 14m impact and Alex has 1,100 plays and a 14m impacts. The little stations are really helping her. Something has to be done about Capital and R1. It's dangerous, they control the charts. They can hammer a semi decent song (Domino and Gotye) and it can be a #1 hit for months.

Well If you buy the other mixes separately it counts and also gifting it to your friends also contributes to sales.

It does. Alex has gone up by 1100 downloads in less than an hour (I just checked digital data). Emeli has risen a lot too (not surprising considering her video is everywhere and airplay is at #2.) If radio would just get on board (I know I keep saying it, but her music is very decent for the times, and it still sounds fresh unlike some music from the same year (2009).

To send an iTunes Gift:
In iTunes, click iTunes Store in the Source list.
Find a song, album, audiobook, video, or app that you want to give to someone.
Click the arrow to the right of the Buy button; in the resulting menu, choose the Gift option.
Once you've clicked Gift, you'll either be asked to sign in with your account name and password, or you'll see a "Give a Gift" page. You'll need to fill in your recipient's (and your) details, such as names, email addresses, and a personal message. It doesn't matter which screen you get first, you will get both.
Once you've successfully signed in and completed the gift form, you'll be brought to a page to review your purchase and confirm it.

It's a bit complicated to explain, so I've found this from the Itunes page.

Wish celebrity juice was on tonight to boost sales back up again, and then I wish she had another performance somewhere on friday just to keep the sales steady. I'm disappointed as I got my hopes up but, I suppose whatever place she gets, it's amazing considering the setbacks and circumstances.

I'd have preferred the Sport relief performance to have been last week instead. It was a bit wasted (it helped for pre-orders).

They better play her single on Celebrity Juice.....also someone on PJ said that she'd be R1's guest on Sunday and may even sing....Remember the rumoured live lounge she never did....?

It must have killed them to do it and their rationale was 'don't worry DJs....*breathes slow* we've....stopped...her...from...getting....to...number...one....There. We said it'

This number 1 is so close, I think a big push is needed to get her there though.
