I do like a hour of matt mid week, a nice grey colour shirt, but the razor had found it's way out of he cupboard.he still looked fabulous Had a couple of good close up at the start an some more when chatting to the choir, lovely of of air guitar by matt and he enjoyed the guitar playing by mark,having a boogie on the sofa then had a play in some cars. Evening all.

I've still got the last 2 days TTs to catch up on, as well as CF and OMAHD (thank goodness one of them was postponed). With this thread and emails, not to mention non-matt stuff I shall have a busy couple of days.

Agree the hour show is much better with Matt than with Chris. I still think it veers towards the rather silly, but Matt copes with it a lot better. Still, I have to say I'm a little disappointed they haven't taken the opportunity of having an hour mid-week to get their teeth into something with a little more weight than they have so far.

I'm not sure the one hour show for Matt & Alex is any different content wise to the half hours so not sure why it feels sillier for you? I mean, they do things like "ace of bass" on the half hours occassionally too. And I think they did have more time to devote to the story of Oscar and his community work which isn't the sort of thing they could do in 30 minutes (or that would have been done on the Friday show)

Not sure really weighty subjects work for the show - particularly not when it's being followed by Watchdog. I think it could just start tripping over other shows territory if they did that. I would like them to use Matt & Alex in VTs more though - even if it's just the "vox pop" stuff that they film on the day

Evening by the way! It's been an interesting One Show of which I missed the end part....but I saw enough to see that when Matt got in the car to drive off, he was prevented from going anywhere by the barriers It was very funny but a bit embarrassing for poor Matt as he just had to stop and stare lamely at the camera Heads will roll.....

Consensus is that we all like the hour's OS on a Wednesday, well who wouldn't...... It's great that we've won another half-an-hour of Mattilicious goodness! So that just leaves 30 minutes of shoutyness on a Friday evening....we can take it or leave it, but if there is a good guest on it's worth sticking with it but with added earplugs

Subjects with a little more weight - not really weighty subjects. What I had hoped is that they would have more time to have a longer, more in-depth discussion with the guest(s) so it doesn't always seem rushed, plus show some decent VTs - I agree with your earlier comment that it worked well when they had a common theme. The things I like least about TT are the links to Lucy or someone else (usually Lucy) talking to a group of locals somewhere about whatever - can't even remember the subject matter of any of them. And also the 'show us your photos' bits, and the games. I think you can have an interesting magazine show without descending into this kind of territory, and with an hour to play with they have the opportunity. Some new thinking required in my opinion - but it know it is only my opinion.

Hi Emma. I'm going back and catching up on things. Thanks for the photos, I absolutely love the CF one. He looks just adorable. Not so sure about the red carpet one. Although still nice, I think he looked a lot better one Aliona got her hands on him

It was obvious both Aliona and Artem would not get a 'good' partner again this year, and I suppose they must have known it. Johnny seems nice though, and maybe he can dance. Zoe must have inherited her talent from somewhere after all. Wouldn't it be funny if he and Aliona did so well, got so much sympathy that they went on to win

I like Louis and have always liked Flavia. They and Johnny and Aliona will be the couples I follow (in a very luke-warm, half-hearted way I must add) this year.

This reminds me that I haven't watched CF yet - or OMAHD. Lots to look forward to still

I can't watch the news when she does it. She announces everything in a conspiratorial tone that irritates me. And her art programmes seem to be just her posing. Should just get the art experts to do it. Why have a presenter who by her own admission knows little about the subject.

Hello all – Friday tomorrow so Matt will be filming CF. We don’t know yet where could it be, do we? Have to check when One Man and His Dog single round will be air this weekend and we have Matt on his railway journey on CF. I hope it would be as great as his previous journeys including the one on Secret Britain. This weekend = another Mattful weekend! Brilliant!


F1 would not be the same w/o Jake cos he, DC and Eddie have had great working relationship for years. His move is understandable though. If he keeps presenting it, he has to be away from home during F1 seasons. When he is no longer on BBC, I won't get the chance to see him but he would know what is the optimum for him.

I think Matt would probably enjoy presenting F1 type or similar live gigs where he can find the excitements and lively atmosphere. He is at his best where there is excitement according to the the questionnaires thing they did on the OS but to be away from home during F1 seasons is one of the things he would not very keen on it. I would love to see him hosting SCD and CIN near future as he has many hidden talents and I do believe he would fit those roles perfectly well. I said that before but I am not sure he is interested in the roles. Those shows are seasonal so I do think he can manage his time to fit the shows in his annual work schedule with the BBC.

See, I liked the Lucy story last night. Oscar was an interesting person who was clearly loved by his community so it was nice to be able to do something for him and they had a decent amount of time to spend on the subject. It's entirely subjective of course but the "show us your photos" has been a staple of this type of show forever - both "That's Life" and "Nationwide" we're notorious for it (dodgily shaped vegetables a speciality )

The hour show seems to have stabilised at around a 17% audience share (3.4m last night) so I suspect it's filling the gap the BBC wanted. As I say I'd like to see them take the time to use Matt & Alex better in the hour shows. Don't care about the guest as the quality is never normally good enough to matter - but make use of the fact they've got capable presenters in the studio...


Matt is filming where I'm on holiday - he's in Northumberland. I had read he was near Kielder but apparently Countryfile magazine mentions Alnwick Castle. And tomorrow I'm going to Alnwick Castle!

OMaHD is on at about 5pm on Saturday on BBC2


I don't think Matt would like F1 presenting - doesn't strike me as the type of sport he'd be interested in. Presenting Strictly or CIN on the other hand... He's mentioned before now he'd like to do that sort of Saturday night light entertainment role and he seemed to enjoy his appearances last year on John Barrowman's show. He's versatile enough to have the range required so I think if an opportunity came up he'd definitely consider it

Just caught up with last Sunday's CountryFile. What a lovely item about DH Lawrence. Some gorgeous shots of Matt there and seemed a reasonable length of footage with him in it. I'm thinking that whether or not his part of the show is long enough might depend on how well the subject he's covering is dealt with. Sometimes he just skims over the surface, sometimes we find out a little more. Kk is often telling us it's a reasonable length when it's seemed short to me, so could be illusion.

Liked the Alpine sheep too. I've never seen a trail quite like that but have seen some pretty hairy ones (trails not sheep).

It does tend to be a perception issue . There are weeks when people complain on twitter that he's hardly on and it turns out to be 13+ minutes of coverage. Even happened to me with the Oxfordshire wildlife show - I thought that with the 4 filming locations it had limited his filming time and it turned out to be about 15 minutes in total!

It is a rare week that he's on for less that 12 minutes which at the minute of tv = hour of filming standard means he's probably doing better than he should.

I do think this weeks filming indicates he may be working Friday and Saturday as the magazine says he's filming at Alnwick and Hadrians Wall. There's about 70 miles between those locations!

Was off putting them changing that colour of the studio lighting, the blue colour behind them did look odd.

KK had a great time at Alnwick castle tomorrow, fingers crossed that the cf team are there and you can get to see some live filming and some photo taking views

Well, Chelsee appears as a lovely girl and a beautiful dancer. Her dance partnership with Pasha was sweet but they have never been a serious threat to Harry and Aliona. Holly could have been up her games and be right up there with them in the final but she didn’t show any signs of wanting to do well to get to the final. Whether it was her dance partnership with Atrem made her to hold back or she is just a laidback person, I don’t know. Artem’s fitness level in series 9 was a major concern as well. Harry, on the other hand, was great in ballroom and Aliona coached him well. She managed to get the notorious dances out of his way at earliest opportunity. She choreographed some of their ballroom dances on hold from beginning to the end of routines so least possibility to be criticised his hands and arm placements. So everything came out well together for him but IMHO he doesn’t have the same level of strengths in Latin and 2 things were lacking in him – C for confidence and E for emotion…he seemed self-conscious until Jive. I know many are still blaming Aliona for her jive chorography but I saw him gone wild like a school boy enjoying the high school graduation party. So I don’t blame her as his confidence was back yet he didn’t emote to the dances until the final. But to be fair, regardless of how our views on them were divided, they were the best couple in the final so they deserved winning especially Aliona.

But series 10 is another story. I appreciated the fact that Len didn’t say that this is the best lineup ever. He said more practical thing instead that this is the first time he knows all the contestants.

I think Matt will be supporting Louis this year and still be supporting Aliona as well. He supported her and Harry last year and congratulated them on their winning. He is lovely a student every teachers would wish for. I don’t have any couples I obviously like to support but it would be more interesting than last year. More importantly the winning couple won’t be too obvious like last year. But I am interesting to see Aliona and Johnny in two week time. I am impressed with Louis for confirming that he would not take his shirt off to win the female viewers' votes. He is in the right direction to follow somebody's footsteps.


On the red carpet pics are the cute cuddly bear before Aliona got her hands on him and moulded him into fit and strong moose. Does that include bottom smacking? Every time I watch their training VTs, I grin from ear to ear.

And yes Rita, I miss Matt on SCD. I always will. Like you said, it wouldn’t be the same without him. There are many people I do admire their look, talents and attributes but I can’t put equal symbol between them and Matt as he has many special qualities that I can’t find in those I admire. So no one can draw my attention that long as Matt does. Many times I think to stop supporting him to be honest but he proves everyday he’s worth it.


Would you get a chance to see him filming there? I hope you have a chance to take snapshots for us.

Firstly KK you will love Alnwick. Do visit the poisonous garden, Very informative. The gardens are really beautiful and we loved it. Went to Northumberalnd in June and never got to Kielder so will see this CF with great interest.Ther is also a wonderful bookshop on the site of the old Alnwick station - its very famous but I cant remeber the name Wonder is a quick visit to the homestead will be in order?

Rita - like you so much to catch up on inc T1S tonight. I like the new 1 hr Wed show and like you I live the human interest stories like the incredible Oscar. A real diamond geezer!!! Wish the "show us your photaws" would die a death now - its sooooo naff IMO. But at least it is a less frenetic show than Fridays and my ear plugs are now removed.

this is highly frustrating......both Hadrians Wall and Alnwick are fairly near me but I'm on my own with the sprogs and its a long way to push a buggy....bummer

shame really cos imagine Matts face when he watches the filming back and spots in the background a big bear in a slightly incriminating T shirt pushing 2 little ones in a buggy
