Somebody is back to being a tweety boy


And according to a tweet from Alex they've just had a mass cream pie / water fight outside the studio . Should be a fun show tonight!

I love his new avatar on twitter too. It's the picture where he's wearing a black suit and purple shirt with his hands covered in gymnast chalk and the rings behind him. Great indication of his role - the serious (and sexy) presenter who is also a capable gymnast.

I looked at these pics last night after Matt's exhuberant performance on TT, and thought they were all wonderful. In the cold light of another day, I still think they're all wonderful. Think it's probably my mood that's exhuberant now as a result of TT and also Matt's sudden relaunch into twitter

PS. Actually, looking back at my choice, what do I mean 'for no particular reason'! They're all wonderful pics with slightly different expressions to the usual. And in all of them what comes across in Matt's face more than anything else is warmth. Lovely man.

Basically there's an entire BBC's worth of presenters involved in the river pageant. Clare Balding is on the royal barge, Alex is with the Hairy Bikers and loads of others involved (Jake Humphreys, Fearne Cotton, comedians, etc). But I love that the whole thing is listed as being presented by Matt Baker and Sophie Raworth. It's a good gig to get on the CV and is definitely a step up from being one of the "out and about" reporters.

Essentially, even though other people (like Jake) may have more than one role over the weekend I think it's an indication that they think Matt is capable of the "grown up" presenting roles which is definitely a good thing

Good TT tonight. I liked the shirt and tie, though I think I may be the only one who did. Love gungy colours me. I missed the beginning completely as I was daydreaming and it was over before I realized it was on. Preferred the water we had last year I think. Chris Tarrant was okay, not as funny as last year. His thing about his dad actually got on my nerves, just because he's not the only one. Everyone was 'thrown into it' in 1939 as he put it. No one had a choice. Lots and lots of heroes that didn't get medals. Okay. Rant over.

He's calmed down from last night, not so hyper, but still bouncy, nice blue demin shirt on, with a grey tie and trews. razor still on holidays
Chris was ok, his normal chatty self, got abit upset up when they talked about his dad.
Alex got to wrestle with some marines in the studio, think she enjoyed herself doing that she couldn't run across the studio quick enough when it was time to give it a gaw

If Matt is off filming Countryfile tonight he's got a hefty journey ahead of him again - the filming is in Northern Ireland this week

Tales of tvc was good last night, quite a few matt bits spread out all the way through the show, a new word for me to describe raining hoying it down. bouncy and giggly doing his bit. apart from the sad walk around the bp garden.

3.76m for TOS last night apparently. Pretty low. Don't have a percentage yet.

Matt's impression of The Scream is very good where Alex's is not. You can tell which of them is the artistic (and observant) one.

It's true, things are getting very quiet on here kk. There's only a few of us who still use it I guess, and we few, we happy few, seem to post less frequently. Hope it doesn't die completely. Twitter is all very well, but so frustrating when you want to say something!

Yes it has bedcome very quiet recently . Think a lot have absconded to twitter but it does have its limitations (140 of them). One or two have also had a few probs with lack of time (moi included). Thudsday is always a no no for me.

Like you hope it doesnt die off completely as nice piccies and banter on here and twitter goes too quickly. You have to be on it at the right time.

Will probs dip in and out of T1S tonight. Want to see Olympic Flame but a more sports orientated presenter imo would have been better that CE but MB is probably bodding off on CF as we spk

I know I only post very rarely here (and not that much more on twitter!), but I do always read all the posts and I agree with what you say Lotus and Rita, it would be such a shame if this forum died off.
Time does seem to move on so quickly and it often seems to leave me behind and by the time I've got round to replying to something, subjects have changed direction completely!!
I too will have TOS on and will watch the relevant bits. Unfortunately, MB is in "Norn Iron" filming today, so there's no chance he will turn up tonight, no matter how much we wish he would.
Watched the programme about BBC TV Centre last night. What a nostalgic trip down memory lane. It's so sad that it's all got to end. Loved Matt's bits, especially when he spoke of being homesick, bless him.

It was really good SG. The immense talent and creativity nurtured in that place. Had me in tears by the end. Such a terrible shame that after so many years it's come to an end. Someone said the beeb had a more corporate feel to it these days and I think that shows through in a lot of what it does. Hope it's not the beginning of the end of good public broadcasting.

Well, I was not observant enought to see that things were getting quiet. To behonest I had been a bit too intimidated by all the interesting and valuable comments to venture my few thoughts, but perhaps I'll give it a go for a while, having been confident to post at length on GG when it was active.

I loved last night's programme on T V Centre. Loved most of the bits they showed, including the gate man in the sketch with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders who was Jon Plowman, who finished up as Head ofbComedy as well as producing Dibley, Ab Fab and many other things. He was the brightest 6th former I ever taught Shakespeare, and I'd hoped he'd make an appearance.

But back to the Main Man,. How fabulous did he look in his Herdwick beanie? I loved the way his pieces popped up just as one was not expecting him. The piece in the BP garden clearly showed his reservations about how the garden had gone out of use. But I was thinking that his greatest memory, causing the bit of 'forlorn' as mentioned in the RT would have been of his memories of being there with Meg, having her run round the football as he described in his CF Magazine article.

I love the things that have been happening for Matt since his Strictly time. He has certainly risen to a central place in the BBC, and in the nations affections. I detect fewer adverse comments on twitter about him too, as people see they are in the minority. Happy days with Jubilympics in sight.

Well, a rambling post, but be gentle as I'm not in the swing of it yet!

Watching the OS, quite interesting so far (although lacking a certain dulcet-toned personage) now waiting for the big moment when the flame arrives. Horray!

Still to see the TV Centre prog, so many things to catch up on but have to reserve energy for tomorrow as grandchildren will be careering around the house.

What a fabulous song and video that was just now. Had me in tears yet again. I love all things a bit corny and emotional anyway. They should play that at the opening ceremony - hope they do. Oh, it's all getting so exciting, isn't it.

That works out as 18.98% so not too bad - just about 1% down on normal.

With regards Countryfile - we do have confirmation that Matt is in Northern Ireland filming today (at a railway line). This week's show he's in Wigtown - looking at this book town. The week after is a water based clip show. They'll be showing at least 2 Matt clips - training with the RNLI on Loch Etive and surfing the Severn Bore again

Rita - will you be celebrating the Jubilee in foreign climes. Am hoping to go to London for the boat pageant. Will be going to see the the three Cunard Queens leaving Southampton on June 5th. Red Arrows will be there and big firework display and they will be escorted out at 11pm with full ceremony. Should be awesome.

I only saw the last half hour of this show I must admit, and only got one glimpse of Matt. I must get onto Iplayer tomorrow and watch the whole thing, if only to catch the bits you describe here Maid Marion ( joke). Seriously, the part I saw moved me a great deal. It just seems so very sad that the BBC should be reduced to losing this building and all it has stood for, all the talent it has produced and/or nurtured over the years. I'm not even sure of the history of the move, but presume it's down to cost-cutting. A great shame.

I watched most of TT tonight and got very excited about the flame arriving. I was a little disappointed in the part after the plane touched down - except for David Beckham. I'm always happy to see David Beckham. I thought Alex and CE did okay, though as others have said the serious interviewing was handed to a proper interviewer. Anyway I imagine that whole little 'ceremony' was local to the UK and not shown internationally? I didn't notice any coverage on French or Swiss TV at any rate. Just as well as it was a bit of a damp squid I thought. The song and video were fabulous though. I hope they're going to use them again for the opening ceremony. I have a feeling I'm repeating myself here from an earlier post so I too will stop rambling and say CCM xx.
