Such a pain that one man had been pushed back for the end of the ladies golf, not a fan of golf myself. One man is going to clash with cf now.

No One Man and His Dog program at all. They BBC has dropped the whole program. Richard Hammond's program will follow after Women's Golf on BBC2 at 7.15pm!

The second OMaHD will be broadcast next Saturday so at least it's not cancelled - just postponed. This way there may be a chance of more Matt in the show as its now prerecorded.

Lovely Countryfile tonight too - Matt looked very nice in that blue jumper and I always like it when he has a single theme to focus on during the show.

A lovely cf tonight, talking bout DHL and his books, i haven't read lady c's L. think i might have to get a copy and have alittle read. the hour went very quickly, matt looked great walking around in his jumper jeans and wellies.

Rita you could of had a meet up with adam as he was in geneva a few weeks ago doing sheep herding up in the mountains near you. Amazing sight the huge flock coming down the side of the mountain and over the bridge to the other side of the valley.Some really cute black face sheep in with the flock they brought down.

Day 2 of one man not being shown until next week, because of the ladies golf. Nice bit of extra mattyness that we didn't get today to look forward to next sat.

Two days of glorious Mattiness Yesterday's OMAHD was great, Matt looking tremendous in his bold checked shirt with the fluffy mic attached to his shirt. His mellifluous voice and knowledge are an absolute godsend to the producers, he is simply Mr OMAHD

Was annoyed about Part II not being shown live this afternoon because of the over-running golf but as KK says, they may get more yardage out of him as the event is being filmed and they may get him to do some extra interviews etc.

Tonight's CF was a fabulous affair with Mr B discussing the life and times of D H Lawrence, quoting words from his books and being quite the imp (think we need to re-install the fridge pronto ) His physique was shown off to its best advantage with the blue jumper and jeans, and a few bakerettes were very much drawn to them (and him)

So it's back to the One Show again tomorrow....where on earth does the time go!

And I recorded SCD Launch Show...some rather strange pairings and some rather non-descript celebs but I'll give it a gaw and support the older but nevertheless game professional by the name of Anton Wonder how he'll cope with the feisty Ms Hall!

After a generally satisfactory weekend, another hectic week approaches with OH back to the Fracture Clinic tomorrow. It'll be interesting to hear if they'll say he can go back to work......

Back from Istanbul - lovely city, Caught CF last night - what an excellent prog then realised OMAHD was on Sat live with no 2 yday and thought all my Xmas' had come at once and then but no matter will have time to catch up phew!! Was any hint given that it would be this weekend live !!!! Another first. Was there any CF filming last Friday in that vicinity. So much to catchy up and so little time

See AV has JB - is this is a ploy so she wont win but then she has had the best Lousi and Flavia could make a wonderful combo (hopefully he can take a turn round the floor)

Back to normal tonight

Hello all - Last night CF was great, lots of lovely gorgeous close-ups of Mr B, thanks to the CF camera crew. The ending with Matt and Ellie was amusing. His pigeon randomly selected by other was came 8 in the race! But he seemed quite positive about the result. I found D.H Laurence and his controversy novel interesting. When he read out the lines he has the perfect soothing voice to listen to. What a treat! I need to watch it again though.

I have re-watched last Sunday CF Furness Peninsula. I absolutely loved it. He looked really hot, cute and gorgeous. Lots of lovely shots there too. The colour & design of the cap and trouser reminds me of Japanese soldiers in World War II documentaries and movies. Matt's segment about a century old schooner ‘Heart of Oak' and the history about tiny Piel Ireland were quite interesting as well. And nice to see him learning to change the direction and as he said the only problem was it went to the opposite direction. I can’t believe those monks raised sheep around 70K had other serious business and they were seen as the mafia of those days! And I noticed a signboard ‘Duckingham Palace’ when the little chicks he brought as the gift were released. I wonder would it be done by the master of the pun Mr Baker. Matt says, ‘Breathe it in girls, its island air’. Very sweet of him. Matt and Julia at the end of program was a joy to watch. He wasn’t stranded there, was he. I don’t know what does ‘his armbands’ mean though.

Emma - I like the pictures, particularly the last one. A very young Matt as he's still single in these pictures - no ring . I think he's resurrected those sideburns recently though

Interestingly on last weeks Countryfile that Matt & Julia clip at the end was completely faked . Julia only filmed on Thursday and Matt only filmed on Friday so they couldn't have had a real conversation of the radio. The "hope you've got your armbands" comment was Julia implying he'd missed the boat from the island and would have to swim to shore.

We have a Countryfile rating from last night and it was comfortably the highest rated show on BBC1

19:30 - Countryfile: 5.82m (24.5%)

You can tell its Autumn now as that's not the highest share I've seen recently for the show but it is a higher rating than some. The X Factor started at 8pm so there would have been some channel switching then

Yes, our FBB was looking absolutely stunning tonight in his black shirt and terracotta trews.....he does so suit dark colours next to his face, and with the stubble exactly the right length and his gorgeous profile.....excuse me while I go and have a lie-down Fiona was a nicer and more interesting guest than I originally imagined she would be - she's a professional bbc lady through and through and knows the ropes, so that helps a lot.

Will miss tomorrow's post-Olympic fest with Clare B and our lovely man (although she does have a book to promote as well) No doubt there'll be further reminiscenses about all the fantastic things that happened at both the Games and the Paralympics and Matt and Clare will have some brilliant anecdotes Reason for me missing the One Show: it's our wedding anniversary and OH and I are celebrating with a meal out - hoping we can go to the gastro pub we went to on Saturday. Thing is....I'm the size of a house now

Hope to catch some of CF tonight on IPlayer....Matt's segments are the ones to re-watch of course. And a great viewing figure also for the programme.....something must be going right....and we know what that something is........

Matt did look lovely on the show last night in his black sort and terracotta trousers. The third button on the shirt was making an escape bid sometimes - it was barely hanging in with the buttons above open and a big gap below . If it had failed it would have been unbuttoned enough to be a Strictly tribute shirt.

I find Fiona a bit annoying on her shows but she was an OK guest. "Fake or Fortune" is educational but very artificial in how it's presented - the order is every bit as faked as some of the paintings . You don't miraculously discover a similar painting in the book you had at the beginning halfway through your investigation...

Afternoon all – My work colleagues started talking about Halloween this morning, can you believe that! I felt like I just woke up. But I really want to see Mr Baker in Mattracula outfits (pic credit to KK) on the OS this year again like we saw him on the OS Halloween Special last year. Or can we have Matt in the red-highlighted hair as we saw the sexy vamps on SCD 2010 Halloween Special? So we can altogether sing again ‘Everybody Thud!’ What you guys think?

Matt's just gorgeous on the OS last night. I used to to call the lovely kiddies 'hello gorgeous!' and it was like I have say 'hello gorgeous, wellcome back on the green sofa after busy filming CF and OMAHD over the weekend!'


Well KK, you have a pair of sharp eyes, I have to say. I didn't see it at all. He got married to Mrs B in 2004 as per wiki so it must have been before 2004. I think men age around 25-26 do not like to get married but he made the commitment and now his life is well settled with his gorgeous wife Nicola and 2 adorable mini Bs! He appears to be pretty decisive and has made the right decisions for his personal life and career.

Sounds you are a fan of sideburns. I am not too keen on them cos I don’t like Engelbert Humperdinck’s famous the sideburns. Hee…hee, just saying but I liked the amount of sideburns Matt had on SCD cos he’s so charming.

I didn't have any toughts came across my mind that Matt and Julia ending bits on CF Furness Peninsula would have been made-up by the CF director cos they looked sooooo natural. They are the professionals, are they? They can show their enthusiasm regardless but of course they have genuine friendship bond so everyting looked real.

Just been reading about Jake Humphrey leaving the BBC and whilst I can understand his reasoning (money, baby on the way) one thing I don't entirely get is a point he made about how if you spend too long you can be "institutionalised". I'm not sure that's a bad thing with respect to the BBC. Surely being a national institution like Terry Wogan, or David Attenborough is better than going to a lesser network for short term gain and long term obscurity.

The Matt connection here is I think Matt is heading towards that institution status and I think it'd take a seriously impressive offer to make him move somewhere else - and I don't mean for money, I think it'd take a show being designed specifically for him that let him do what he wanted. And frankly he gets that at the BBC anyway

Jake leaving does open up some more opportunities at the BBC - wonder if Matt would like the "New Year Live" gig Jake has had for the last 2 years? I doubt he'd want the F1 role

Firstly thanks to you all lovely ladies for your kind wishes for my wedding anniversary! It's been fooorty-one years now...... 'Fraid no dancing took place Lotus .......but what wouldn't we give to dance with the man who 'looks like a prince'..... Despite missing gorgeous Matt, I had a lovely evening and have imbibed a miniscule amount of wine (who am I kidding ) and am feeling quite mellow and relaxed Not like me at all......!!

Will enjoy tonight's One Show later (if it's up on IPlayer)...sounds as if Matt and Clare had lots of jolly banter. Well, they've worked together quite a bit now and are good friends - I'd love to see her back on CF now and again but it seems she (like Matt) has so many tv commitments, so I doubt it'll happen And of course she's got the C4 gig now which forms part of her hectic life.

Trust work wasn't too arduous Lotus - going back is never fun And I hope you're coping with the nights Cass...more Wish life could just be one long holiday.......

I’m gonna hop-footed there as I speak, remove my mic, take out my earphone and will be down there for the first gymnast who should be Kohei Uchimura, Just took that all-round gold, 3 times world champion and current world champion on floor. I didn't realise that ending was faked...have to say I'm not loving the new endings to the shows. At least not the last couple of shows. It all seems a bit contrived as if they've picked up that the 'Matt v someone' compeitition or 'lets set Matt up' endings were popular and now they're trying too hard to get one into every show despite the fact there isn't an obvious reason and even if they're not in the same place. Maybe I'm alone and/or maybe they'll get better. Matt & Julia both acted it out well but it was a bit cheesy. I didn't really see the point of the pigeons bit at all - why not just close the show with them both there - no need for a gimmick every time. If they wanted a gag they could have just showed Ellies outfit again ..... hehe



Funny I'd never really heard of Jake H before I came on here as I'm not into F1 at all. He is good on the football though so presumably thats what he wants to do in the future and he thinks the new channel will open doors for him. Hope it does and he hasn't burned his bridges with the BBC. Can't see M being interested in F1 to be honest but as KK says it might be interesting to see if it does present any new opportunites. One great thing about the Olympics coverage was how presenters not necessarily associated with sport by everyone (i.e Matt & Mishel) really shone. It does seem a strange time for jake to leave BBC really....

as for 'institutionalised' I agree with KK. Isn't Matt freelance? if he is then if he's insitutionalised by long service to BBC its through choice.


oh me too.....I didn't enjoy it last year but I think I'll get into it better this year. The biggest problem for me last year was it was so obvious from week 1 that Harry would win. It wasn't even a competition really as soon as it was obvious he didn't have 2 left feet. It left me actually not wanting him to win for no real reason other than contraryness

I know most of us will be suporting Louis this year but I'm getting behind Victoria P and Johnny Ball. I vaguely remember him from kids Tv when I was little and I'd love to see how Aliona handles an older less able partner.
I think she'll do well with him - if he ends up being the dodery comedy turn then she can unlesh her imagination on all the routines but equally if he can dance a bit and puts the work in I can see them being a very sweet partnership and winning alot of votes

I'm kind of hoping they get a few weeks in and Aliona can have some fun with the routines and not just dance round him.

Hope everyone is well, life is busy at the mo, but when is it not? Looking forward to the new season of SCD, I can enjoy it for what it is now but sadly will not be as enthralled as i was two years ago when a delightful dancing Farmer Man cartwheeled across the acreen!

And related to the Olympics - its the rating for last night's One Show: 19:00 – The One Show: 4.27m (22%)

That's a fantastic share and rating and I think illustrates the potential with good guests as I suspect that is related to Clare being popular at the moment

With respect to the BBC - there's "freelance" and there's freelance . I'm pretty sure Matt - as Jake was - is on an exclusive contract with the BBC for television work. Essentially it's the same as any contractor - you're "self employed" so they don't have to give you employment benefits but a lot of the time you're really only working for one employer. I think we're pretty sure Matt is on a one year contract that is renegotiated every December.

I would still say Matt is institutionalised by choice nowadays. Before he got Countryfile he was doing stuff for other channels but I think the BBC probably gave him a good deal - which has probably got better since The One Show. After all, they were prepared to alter an entire filming schedule (Countryfile's) to keep him happy

Interesting the report on Jakes's move suggest his salary was around £250K with the BBC. And as I said elsewhere with his wife expecting he probably wanted something close to home (rather than 20x 4-5 days away from home per year). He's always been a football guy so, more money and being home probably a sensible thing to do.

But there was a real distinction between Jake and Clare Balding with respect to the BBC - Clare is still welcome to present shows according to the BBC, with Jake they've said "maybe in the future". Guess he's exclusive to BT Vision now...

Well The Wednesay One hour Wednesday T1S is working well IMO - so much calmer but then we have the master of the dulcet tones

AM gets into the spirit of things - his programme looks really good but then we do have Downton - I an a real fan but at least there was a plug for CF which is still their premier Sunday pm programme.
