I upload quite a lot of my own DVD content to YouTube and never had a problem but now I am told that I cannot upload VOB (DVD format) files any more?

Is this an anti-piracy measure or just a reduction in the services offered. I used to enjoy sharing rare clips and trailers but now I am prevented because VOB is no longer supported.

I have not heard anything about it so thought I would ask. Thanks for any input.

Converting .vob files to .mpg is dead simple, In many cases you just have to change the file extension to .mpg

If you are uploading videos you've produced yourself then that is a bit of a bummer. But if it's to stop people uploading clips from copyright material without the permission of the copyright holder then you can see YouTube's point.

A blanket ban on a particular format is a bit of the proverbial sledgehammer in nut cracker role though. Especially as it is relatively simple to get round just by using a formal they do allow!
