I have had my Nokia Lumia 800 for a few weeks now so thought it was time I reported back on it. My contract was due to end, but was gonna wait till the last min then make 3 beg for my custom (cruel I know lol) but when my Wife was talked into getting a Lumia 800 on contract I was so impressed I went to the 3 store and got one myself. In a nutshell I love it, its fast, its fun and its original. Everyone and there Dog seems to have an iphone these days, even the 13 year old Kids on my estate have swapped there Blackberry's for iphones lol. So will start on the down side of the Lumia first and trust me im being picky. First is every smart phones bogey, the battery power is not that good but you can do the normal thing and switch of location, push notifications etc, you cant switch of the music player – you can kill the music but the player is hovering in the background and a warning to anyone thinking of having a few virtual Girlfriends/Boyfriends on the net as the People Hub records the past 8 Friends you have had contact with, and you cant delete the past eight. You can only contact another 8 to get them of your hub, not easy when you just been texting some one your Partner wont approve of and she has just walked in the room lol. In saying that I don't mind I like to have my Friends near by.
The Lumia is a must for music lovers as you get the fab Nokia music which is fab and its free, I have also subscribed to Zune which is a lot cheaper then itunes and a lot better then Spotify. The graphics are good but cant touch the Retina display of the iphone and the colours can bleed a bit on the highest brightness. I love the marriage between Nokia and MS and love the tiles system, you seem to get a lot for your money and the inclusion of Office is great as I use this all the time for my course work The integration with your contacts, face book and twitter is marvellous. And best bit unlike the icloud the photos that you take automaticly upload to your PC and Skydrive, where you get 25gb to play with. I could go on but trust me this is a great phone and I can recommend it 110%. Saying that im still waiting for the fabled iphone 5 and what it has to offer, but thats another story.

I did exactly the same and haven't looked back. I love my Lumia and it does everything a phone should do for me. No-one looks when you pull out an IPhone but I've had quite a few friends stop and look at my phone and are really impressed with it.

Like you, I'm not overkeen on the battery life but the music is great and the camera quality is right up there.

Wifey almost bought one at last renewal and I'll admit I was impressed by the demo.

How is the market equivalent? Couldn't care less about x hundred thousand apps as long as the main ones are there .... are apps generally free (ad subsidised) or so they cost?

Used to have a winmo 6.5 phone and office integration was very useful.

There are loads of apps most of em are just like they are on itunes, rubbish lol! All the main ones your ever want are pre installed or are free. The paid for apps are more expensive then they are on itunes, average price is 79p but on nearly every app you can try before you buy. Im not an app person myself so not bothered really! Check out the marketplace by following this link.

Got one on upgrade last week after having an iphone for 2 years.

Love it so far, battery is rubbish and unpredictable on how long it may last. So far charges have lasted between 12 hours to 48 hours! Only yesterday I took it off an 8 hour charge and 12 hours later having barely touched it I had 20% power left, simply not good enough.

Would I swap it for an iphone? No chance, despite the battery the rest of it is brilliant.

Every paid app has a test version which often offers enough functionality if you are cheap like me Main apps are there, even skype is in beta. I like the look of the OS, it's original. The simple b&w dialogs are optimised for OLED displays, only pixels that are not black consume power. IE9 is very fast. I can usually get 2 days out of it between charging.

As Nokia were rushing, they outsourced manufacture of it to a third party called Compal. Apparently that is the source of a lot of these problems. Apparently the Nokia Lumia 900 is made in-house and shouldn't get most of these problems but that remains to be seen.

I'm a Lumia 800 owner too and nice to see others are very happy with it too.

I won one just before Christmas, so who am I to complain?
(Apart from no TVCatchup app, and not enough Flash-based websites not converting to HTML5 yet. )

So I was on a train today molesting my Lumia 800 in my hands, Samsung Galaxy on my left, iPhone on my right. So that's more than 33% share for Windows Phone 7, right?
