Do you have any issues about logging in when switching the box on and trying to go straight to Netflix ?

Is this with UK Netflix or US Netflix?

Us, if I turn the box on then hit Netflix I have to go through the start up page around. 4 times before I need to log in

It's working fine once logged in

If you have US login issues then you need to goto Unblock-US site and click on 'Chech Service'.

Actually since the last firmware update I have login issues regularly. WD know about this, the box keeps losing the credentials and when you type them in it sometimes crashes.

I've not 10 minutes ago sorted my US Netflix account and much to my absolute delight, one of my all time favourite films is on it - and in HD as well !!

So I would definitely recommend Cashback.

(He says, as he goes off to watch it in 'glorious' HD )

From what I saw, you just change your DNS settings to the unblock-us.com ones.
How do they know if you have an account or not? If they aren't detecting it but assuming people will just pay then I can just use it for free?

I've heard of many people being able to still use unblock-us after their trial has ended without issue.

But for some devices it also does block the connection until you pay up. i'll see how it goes from my end in a week's time i suppose.

I'm not entirely sure how it works, but must be either IP or device ID.
Since they closed the loophole they just know what's going through their server and who do and don't pay.
When you navigate to their site it tells you if your service is active or not.
If your using their DNS on a PC/Laptop and not pay then navigate to their site a yellow banner appears saying 'Your account is inactive but your using our DNS'. ' Please Subscribe to our service or remove our DNS settings'.

i think if my bluray player stops working in a week's time i'll probably leave it for now.

it still only works out around £8 quid a month for unblock-us & netflix but i'm always loathe to subscribe to stuff like this as i can never usually find enough content to justify it.

i suppose it might be different now that we're coming to the end of most of the US shows i watch, so there's a chance i'd probably be stuck for stuff to watch i guess. we'll see.

i'll just have to try and watch all the MST3K stuff on my list before the week is up

The idea of being able to access the US Netflix is really appealing but is it legal?

Since the whole things with Megavideo et al kicked off I've been a bit paranoid about the Feds coming and dragging me off to Gauntanamo
You have absolutely nothing to worry about it's 100% legal, it's as legal as someone living in Holland watching terrestrial UK television or someone living in Spain watching UK Sky.

When you sign up for a Netflix account it allows you to access Netflix as a product wherever you are in the world, though the content is regionalised to the territory where you are located.
Netflix are fully aware of people fooling the system into thinking they are in the U.S when they are in fact in the UK or Canada, they say users shouldn't do it, though they have also stated they won't block anyone who does it.

Thank you

I decided a couple of weeks ago that it would be ok. I usually begrudge paying for stuff like this- hence using the megavideo services, but as this is legal, the quality is better and more it's reliable. I don't regret it at all.

I'm currently re-watching the X-Files from the beginning, and I'm pleased to report it's as good this time round as it was nearly 20(!) years ago...

Next up will be Star Trek TNG...

I really was a geeky teenager

xx

Just finished watching Terra Nova.
Even though plot wise I thought it had similarities to Avatar, I rather enjoyed it and its a shame there's not going to be a second season.

Lots of great things to see on Netflix Sweden.
I will need to have a proper look after work, but so far I've noticed:
Taken
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (both seasons)
Police Academy's
The Matrix Trilogy
Batman Begins
Contagion
Final Destination 5
Some 007 movies including Never Say Never Again.

Sweden looks like a good addition. Just spotted Horrible Bosses, another film recently on Sky Movies plus all four Lethal Weapon films and all three Matrix films. Looks like they have a deal with Warner bros.

As before with other regions, some things do and some don't.

The subtitles seem to depend on what you watch on my TV I had forced subtitles on Hunger Games in Mexico but on the Roku I could always switch them off.
