Could not do the settings I'm just not techie anymore and worry I will mess everything up and not have internet

Good news is that I secured my unsecured router, that for some reason stopped needing a password last time I had to ring virgin and reset.

It's only a case of changing the DNS on the device you wish to use, no messing up involved.
If you then no longer want to use the DNS then with pretty much most devices all you do is select Auto DNS to put back to normal.

What device are you using PS3's/4's and Apple TV are fairly easy and straight forward to change the DNS, Roku's and others you need to change on your router which is a bit more complex.

If you go with Un block us (others are available) they have a great tutorial for most devices.

I just used the Windows auto setup app available from the windows setup page on Unblockus.

You end up with an icon in the task bar that allows you to turn it on, turn it off or uninstall.

Thank you. I did that, and it says all is OK and working but wont let me watch Call the midwife series 3 as its not available in the UK. Even though I set it to the USA.

I'm just so crap at this stuff. I was always really good but now I seem to have forgotten so much. I hate brain fog and getting older.

I have done all that. I expect that little programme that sits in the task bar only changes my PC settings and not the router? I expect I still need to get the router settings done.

You don't need to change any router settings if you do the change on any devices or a PC

I'd reboot the PC and then go to unblock us and press the 'check service status' button (or change region a couple of times, as that does it automatically).

Its says this .... Your Netflix region has changed to USA

Then when I try to watch something in the USA it says

Netflix DVD Service

The Netflix DVD Service is only available for customers in the U.S.

Please go to the Netflix home page by clicking the button below.

I will try a reboot and see.

Nope reboot didnt help either. Oh well just have to wait till my son can look at it. probably something simple.

It could just be a Netflix US glitch. Have you tried accessing another region, such as Netherlands? (Netherlands working fine on my pc)

If your using a PC then it's likely your selecting something that's only available via their DVD rental service.
What is it your trying to watch?
Edit: Oh, Call The Midwife.

This article seems to suggest Netflix are being put under pressure to block VPN users.

Hulu tried it and people still found a way around personally the studios should be a bit thankful that people are prepared to pay for Netflix and they still get some kind of payment although be it a grey area rather than people saying "screw you studios i'll use torrents" that's what people will end up doing if this goes ahead.
