I don't have a retro phone, but use a cheapy Nokia 500 as it does everything I need and unlike my previous smartphones the battery actually lasts a few fays rather than hours and its not like carrying around a mini-tablet.

I don't see the problem with battery life. You just charge it every night, which isn't a problem because most people sleep anyway.

I love my Samsung GT-i9100

It's my camera, video recorder, music/video player, portable tv and radio.
Oh and the internet is on tap whenever I need it amongst other things.

I used a MYX2 by Sagem for years until the print on the buttons wore out. I dropped it so many times (all the corners were broken) but it still carried on working.

It's in a draw and it still works.

I use a Nokia now. The buttons are starting to go on this too. Wouldn't have a clue what model it is though.

Are you the proud owner of a retro cell phone?”

My wife has one of them and I had an MYX5. Now have a 5 year old Sony Ericsson that I got on an Orange deal for £1.99.

We only have a 2G mast here and most of the Scottish Borders don't have a 3G service so pointless having a 3G phone anyway.

Motorola flip phone. Don't even know the model name. Battered looking but the keypad's great and it works like a dream for phoning/texting. **** iPhones.

My phone here is the Ericsson PH337 - with the rubber ariel. I got it when I worked at Dixons in 1995 - half price at £150. Back then it wowed everyone how small it was, but by 1998 it was unremarkable. In 2002 it started to get some sniggers as being old, in 2005 it was laughed at and talked about. In 2009 it got some 'what is that phone' comments and now in 2012 it is getting the 'cool phone' comments again. In 16 years it has never let me down and has saved me when I broke down, worked with texts perfectly and become almost a friend.

I just cannot imagine any other phone even being 1/4 as good.

Mine is so out of date that when I offered it to my child as her 1st phone the reply was "errr no way i'd get laughed at."

I've got a Rio, it resembles a Blackberry but is a lot cheaper. It's not marvellous but it works for what I want it for- mainly texting, a little bit of internet and a camera from time to time.

Ahh, my friend had that phone in 6th form. I would always borrow it to text people when I ran out of credit

My dad still uses his original Nokia 5110, he had a Blackberry for work and hated it but the 5110 is still going strong.

I forgot to mention that Orange sent me an upgrade. Some fancy smart phone. I got it about 6 months ago, and it has never been out of the box (the box is still sealed) I like to use stuff until they break down.

I've got an ALCATEL pay as you go flip phone. Bought from T-mobile for about £15 about 5 years ago.

Sends and receives calls and texts, and has tetris on it. Choice of ring tones which all sound like something off 1980's ZX Spectrum games!

I had an Ericsson of some sort when I came back from a stay in London in 1998. Then a Phillips Savvy thing on BT Cellnet.

I have a laptop for that when away from home. 'Old fashioned' maybe now you can get ipads or notebooks, but of course where I have a 250gb drive, dual core processor, DVD facility plus a visual display I can see instead of squinting into some tiny little window......your expensive iphone doesn't give any of that.

I have one of these http://www.uk-o2-mobile-phones.co.uk...Sendo-M550.asp that I got from Tesco in 2003. The battery still lasts for a week (switched off over night) and it is very small. I reckon it's cost me £40 in total over about 9 years.

I have a Samsung SGH G600 which used to belong to one of my kids. My first phone was a hand me down too and I only got the present one when the first one was broken.

I was proud to have an old clunky phone, but because of the surplus of iphones in our household, I've had one foisted upon me. I hardly use it, though.

Some of those early Ericssons were great, like the T28s.

I used an N95 8GB for 4 years until it's untimely demise when I accidently buried it. Never really gave me trouble. Hoping my N8 can live up to that! Not exactly basic but I like to get my moneys worth out of phones. Only have a posh one for the camera, saves me buying a compact.

So did I! It was my first phone. I never really liked it though. The interface was really clunky and annoying.

This is my mobile phone

panasonic

I don't get much reception beyond the garden

As for all these real mobiles I hate them with a passion.

Free upgrade? Isn't that only if you tie yourself into another eye watering 18/24 month contract?

So it's not really free is it?
