That's good for a British boyband but nothing that amazing, US platinum is roughly equivalent to UK silver though.

That is very good, and tbh lately a lot of songs that have reached the US Top 10 haven't even been certified platinum so that#s very good.

Also on the Hot 100 this week it has stayed at #4. It is hanging around for a while.

From the looks of things they don't have any need to be.

Second single is vital now though. Not sure what it should be, as I don't like GYC and look how well that's done... just hopefully not Heart Vacancy. That's the very very worst of a mostly bad bunch
Apparently they're doing that whole one promotional song a week leading up to their album release, starting next week with Gold Forever, so I'm awaiting a lot of misinformed people saying they're flopping starting from then.

Feel a bit bad for them that the UK press is all over how well 1D are doing and barely giving their success a mention.

You're right, Glad You Came has being doing well on itunes/radio for weeks now and the press haven't made it BIG news. They are just focusing on their comments on 1D.

Saw one of them say on Twitter actually how they'd been waiting for some recognition for ages and once they got it, it was just a slight mention in a completely made up story about them slating 1D.

actually i saw their tweets and they were a bit sly about 1D so they can't back track from a tweet

But fantastic sales and I am really pleased for them. To be fair it was probably them that helped 1D make it out there too.

In fairness I think that was a misunderstanding. One of them said he wished they'd got the NME for Worst Band which 1D got, he didn't exactly say they deserved it.
Even so, the articles I saw didn't even mention that, it was saying 1D are for kids and they don't speak to them and stuff - things which completely contradicted stuff they'd said in videoed interviews.

IMO I think Warzone would work best as the next single. I know it didn't do too well here, but in the US tour they did, the fans seem to love the song.

The song reminds me of Backstreet Boys Incomplete

More like Gold. US gold is like Uk silver. Most songs get in between 500k - 1m. It depends if your song takes off or not.

It would work I reckon. They should release that here, but they need a slower song somewhere in there too. GYC and Invincible are sort of similar.

Invincible's pretty good. I think it's different enough from GYC to avoid sounding like a copy, but it's in the similar vein of avoiding being too 'boyband'. If they release something too much in that territory, 1D will trample all over them imo.

I think their next single will be a new song, they have been in the studio recently judging by their tweets.

The Wanted stated that "One Direction will not be competition until they receive a top 10 single" in my opinion that is very sly since One Direction will unquestionably be the first UK group to debut at number one on the Billboard 200!

That's good
But i doubt they will get another hit and I can't see their album sell well at all. It's all well the press and fans getting excited but One direction have done a lot better, even if their single hasn't done amazingly as well as this.

We cant compare both bands just yet ... we have to wait till both of them release their albums and maybe a second single. I have a feeling that 1D however have more fans judging by how many people turned up at their album signings and also the today show.

I am confused by this statement.

Isn't US platinum 1 million, and UK silver 100,000

Not having a go at you, just dont know what you mean by your post

UK Silver is 200 000

There are roughly 300 000 000 people in US (correct me if wrong).

There are roughly 60 000 000 people in UK (correct me if wrong).

A bit of maths here...

300 000 000 / 60 000 000 = 5

200 000 x 5 = 1 000 000 - UK Silver and US Platinum

400 000 x 5 = 2 000 000 - UK Gold and US x2 Platinum

600 000 x 5 = 3 000 000 - UK Platinum and US x3 Platinum

So basically all it is the converted UK certifications into US certifications.

Glad they are moving on from GYC over there, it's definitely hit it's peak I think and they are now up to #60 and #45 on the US & Canadian iTunes Charts.. Gold Forever's release has shocked me a little bit, think 'Warzone' (best song on 'Battleground') or 'Invincible' would have worked well over there!!
