I think she'll either stick at number 2, or over take Gotye and be number 1. Well done Alexandra!

At least it was playlisted.

A few years back, when they refused to playlist a track pre-release, they would be stubborn and never playlist it, even after chart success.

Best example is Shakira's Hips Don't Lie, which they never playlisted, even after 5 weeks at #1.

Well, they're earlier than most stations, which aren't playing it at all.

Radio 1 have a good track record with playing songs early, so I don't think it's a massive problem if they playlist some "late" once in a while. Plus, they were actually the first radio station in the country to play Elephant, since they did the radio premiere I believe.

I don't think them playlisting it will boost it to #1, but it should help it stick in the #2-#4 region for the official chart, and give it a longer chart run.

Most stations are playing it, but yesterday it was only Capital and R1 not playing it and so it didn't shoot up on airplay. With only 2-3 plays on R1, it shot up by over 20 places on the airplay chart. That's the impact influence they have.

I think the song needs to be No 1! Gotye's been at that spot long enough.

wow I'm really shocked they playlisted her. shocked but happy. guess they seen the song's popularity on iTunes and admitted they were wrong. and to B-list too, that's even better!

What do these different playlists mean?

it's to do with the number of plays they will get each week

A-List means you're guaranteed a high number of plays

B-List is 2nd highest
C-List is 3rd highest

of course they play songs not on their playlist, but they're not GUARANTEED a certain number of plays

can't remember how many plays you get depending on A B or C

It's fallen to #5 on itunes so I doubt it'll be #1 or #2 now, may only make #4

It depends on overall sales. I bet it'll be #3. Wild ones was in the lower top 10 for most of the week. It's long term that matters.

They combine the sales of the single and the EP (remixes etc) on itunes don't they? Because the EP has fell a lot, I don't think it'll be in the top 40 for long either

The EP translates into singles sales. The single is doing well alone on itunes so it'll be there for at least 2 weeks more IMO. It has to sell well in the next month and after that it's ok. Well it has to sell till mid may for single 2.

Do people think the release was left to late after the premier?

No, but it was played too early. One radio played it earlier than they should have and it messed things up. IMO the original date of late February should've stayed, but ah well.
