well mainstream radio seemingly isn't interested in r&b music right now and beyonce's 4 album had a few catchy songs but mainstream radio seems to be more on the pop spectrum right now instead of urban music. doesn't it seem like rihanna has taken that position from her as of right now at the moment right now due to the sound that mainstream is following as ri ri is relevant due to that sound. beyonce decided not to follow the mainstream trend.
do you think this sound beyonce had on 4 is this the way that were going to expect for now on in her music? or should she go back to her commercial sound she used in i am sasha fierce were the songs were radio friendly and more pop. but of course if the mainstream audience doesn't accept it then she'll always have her fanbase to count on.
in my personal opinion i dont think pop is not really her style too much, r&b is her style. it always has been since she came in with destiny's child. is she now at the point in her career where she just doesn't care no more about racking up hits since she's been doing this for 15 years now? well if mainstream can't accept the sound she's doing then she'll always have the urban stations to count on for now on or something.
the radio does here and there play her old hits from destiny's child and her solo hits too. like say my name, jumpin jumpin, independent women, survivor, and bootylicious from destiny's child while they play her solo hits like crazy in love, baby boy, naughty girl, deja vu, irreplaceable, single ladies, if i were a boy, halo, sweet dreams and telephone. those are 15 songs radio is still playing from her but those are old though. some of them songs i mentioned urban, mainstream and adult contemporary stations play them.
i think personally, beyonce should get a few more hits to be remembered the kind that icons like michael jackson, prince, madonna, diana ross, janet jackson, mariah carey, and whitney houston have that are still being played like they're still no.1 and amount of songs they have that are remembered too. so maybe like i said before, if she does a commercial sound like she did in sasha fierce then maybe she'll be welcomed back with open arms by the radio audience.
