Disappointed at some of these songs and performances

Jessica and Heejun were huge disappointments;

Loved Colton but Steven criticising him for singing a song that wasnt him yet its a rock song!! argh!!!!!

erika did really well in my opinion

My low down

Phillip - He was great. I always think he's really professional when he performs
Jessica - I didn't think it was that bad. I think she was good, just not as good as she has been. She really has a young Beyonce feel to her stage presence. I disagreed with the judges. Her voice is slammin' though.
Heejun - Terrible. Like he couldn't breathe a some points. It was really airy and breathy.
Elise - I didn't like it. Though from the youtube comments people love it. I just don't like her gravvelly voice, it doesn't appeal to me. She goes from low to high to low to high too much for me. But she was better than last week.
Deandre - A favourite of mine, but he bored me.
Shannon - Ouch. She looks good, but it was pretty flat and weak.
Colton - Damn loved this. I've never heard the song before. Thought he was epic and I haven't been a fan of him.
Erika - I really quite liked it. She put her own spin on it.
Skylar Laine - Skipped some of it, It bored me. She was one of the weakest tonight Imo.
Joshua - Wow awesome! I agree he brought it to church. So good
Hollie- Best of the night for me and best performance from her to date. She really has some chops on her. She kinda came out of herself tonight as well. I love how people are like because they hadn't realised she was British

Phllip - Good performace far better the last week
Jessica - Not a great performace massive let down after last week
Heejun - Big fan of Heejun but I think he is going
Elise - Her best performace to date she won me over this week hated the song choice last week thought she did great this week
Deandre - Thought he was on of the better performers tonight disagreed with the judges comments
Shannon - Better then last week but I still feel like she needs to find her identity
Colton - Im a massive fan of Colton once again another great performace wasn't the perfect song for him though
Erika - She sang it well but I thought the arrangement of the song was terrible
Skylar Laine - Skylar is really growing on me I would like to hear her sing something more stripped back next week
Joshua - WOW Fantastic
Hollie For me Hollie was by far the best of the night my only worry for her in the coming weeks in song choices and just hope she gets them right she deserves to be there until the end,she has everything needed to be a star

Phillip - Good performance, always consistent but not over the top.
Jessica - It was OK, but not even close to her last weeks performance
Heejun - It was his worst performance in AI and the worst of last night's show IMO. And for me he has never been great during the show (he's funny but that's it :P ).
Elise - It was the best performance of the night for me. And she just became my favorite to win this season
Deandre - It was OK, a little boring
Shannon - Not very good, she's beautiful but her performances are not consistent.
Colton - Good enough just like last week, consistent but not something fancy for me.
Erika - mmm OK performance I guess, but not good enough for the song, maybe because I like the song a lot, don't know.
Skylar Laine - I don't like her but she's been very consistent and she had a good performance.
Joshua - He was great, second after Elise for me, and great performances week after week.
Hollie - She had a great night also, but I liked her better last week.

My thoughts:

Phillip – He’s a cool singer and has a good bluesy tone. Good song choice for him but he just needs to watch his distance from the mic a bit as his vocals sometimes drop out or drop in volume when he moves too far from it. Good performance though.
Jessica – Undoubtedly talented – last week proved she is an incredible singer, BUT I don’t think her wide, dramatic vibrato suits pop. Poor song choice from her and I didn’t really enjoy it. Needs to work on her vibrato and song choices.
Heejun – His breathy tone can be quite haunting, but there were some pitch issues and his performance was almost too ‘breathy’. Didn’t really like it and he’s becoming samey week on week now.
Elise – I really like her so I am biased .... It was a pretty good performance and a decent song choice. There were some minor pitch issues, but some of her note choices and phrases are really special, and you get those even in an average Elise performance, so I enjoyed it.
Deandre – Killed it last week and really turned me into a fan, but went backwards this week – going back to ballads and back to overuse of the really high falsetto. Didn’t like it too much, but he performed it pretty well.
Shannon – Shannon can sing, no doubt about that, but she is taking on really tough songs, and then trying too hard with them in the live shows, which is causing her to make mistakes and go off pitch a lot. No sign of anything uptempo from her yet either, so ... I don’t think she is ready. Nice girl though and she is talented.
Colton – Colton isn’t my favourite, but he has been rock solid and stuck to his guns, and he did a good job here. Picked a pretty cool song that isn’t that well known, made it his own, and was right on pitch. Very good job.
Erika – I like Erika, and there were some good moments in the song, but I didn’t like the arrangement. I felt like she might even have messed up the big drop. Either that, or the way she chose to sing that particular phrase was just nowhere near as good as the original phrase / melody. Not sure why she changed it cause this could have been great for her, but instead it was just ok.
Skylar – I love Skylar and thought she sang this well. She is pretty consistent but I know her twang might not be for everyone. Wasn’t the most exciting song though and didn’t really allow her to shine.
Joshua – Love Joshua and I like everything he has done so far. My only minor issue here was When a Man Loves a Woman suits a more restrained delivery, but that aside, he killed it. He is a great performer.
Hollie – Really solid job from Hollie and brave taking on Celine. Agree with the judges that there were some very, very minor pitch issues, but overall it was great. She needs to do something uptempo though.

Top dogs...
Elise - love her voice, love the song.
Joshua - not my bag but no denying he's the best singer in the comp along with Jessica
Skylar - my favourite contestant at the moment. Didn't know the song, didn't matter.

Solid performers...
Phillip - considering his op it was an excellent showing. Love his tone but I'm still waiting for him to wow me.
Colton - I'm pretty ambivalent towards him but fair play to him for his song selection.
Hollie - I want to like her but I'm bored of the awful ballads she chooses.
Jessica - wrong song choice but I thought she was better than the judges comments.
Erika - I had high hopes after last week but she was another who picked the wrong song.
Deandre - his falsetto sets me on edge but I thought generally it was ok.

Strugglers...
Shannon - she shouldn't be singing ballads. I don't remember that being her forte during the audition process so why do it now.
Heejun - terrible terrible song choice. I'm going to get bored of him fast if he sticks to the ballads... but I have a feeling thats all he can do with his voice.

Here's hoping for more upbeat tunes next week.
