As rumoured on here the new producers are apparently going to axe some of the pros - up to 5 it says in the article and bring in 'new faces'.

I suppose it was to be expected but I'm definitely not happy about this. I just hope my favourites Vincent and Flavia are safe and will return next series!

It's going to be sad, we all have our favourites, the ones we love and the ones we love to hate. I really hope the producers don't do change just for change sake. But I have the funny feeling Strictly may be going down the X-Factor route, bright lights and little else.

People tune in to see their favourite pro dance as much as the celebs.

There might be some that can't or don't want to continue, in which case even if they are someone we personally will miss on the show, it opens the door to new faces.

I predict the following five will be axed:

Erin
Katya
James
Ola
Vincent

I know this leaves Anton and Flavia without their dance partner but I can't see the BBC getting rid of Anton. If he did stay without Erin then I doubt he'd be involved with the pro dances that much. I think people are bored with Vincent now and he looked fed up last year.

Erin will be seen as past her best, Katya hasn't made that much impact in three series, James shouting off too much last year will seal his fate and Ola is past her best too.

And Vincent?

Or maybe it's is "up to five" as stated in the link, so only four actually go.

I wouldn't be surprised if Anton, Erin, Katya, James and Ola were axed.

Time must be calling up on Robin and Brendan, too.

I was dismayed to see this news today- SCD without a doubt is my favourite programme on tv- Why do they have to make a huge change like this- 5 pros axed in one go is terrible - why can't they make changes in stages- I fear if they make a big change like this and viewers lose their fav pros they might not tune in- I like all the pros except for James Jordan so would be sad to see the majority of them go-
add this to a new Judge and we may not recognise the SCD we are used to - the show that was beating x-factor in the ratings....

I was gutted to lose Lilia but i've coped and i'm sure other forum members will too.

James needs to go at least.

I'd say it's time for Anton, Erin, Robin, James & Ola to go.

Those would be the ones in my mind that are least safe...
Although I have a feeling Anton might survive just to be damned... - especially if they get a celeb who WANTS to dance with Anton (ie Widdy).

I think Katya might also be a bit unsafe too.

I'm just hoping Katya get's a reprieve- she hasn't had chance to shine yet, and I'd like to see her wih a capable contestant.

You speak for yourself of course. Anton wouldn't do it without Erin, nor Flavia without Vincent - they are much too loyal towards each other. Besides, all four are class acts, highly regarded by the BBC and very popular ! I think Katya could be on shaky ground as it's true she hasn't had much luck with her partners, and I agree with your comments about James and Ola. His mouthing off may have done some damage, and Ola just thinks it's OK to get her partners to dance around her and give the audience a laugh. It says up to 5 dancers will be axed and I reckon it'll be those 3 in the end.

This is not really surprising as the SCD producers do like to ring the changes every year.

James and Ola must be at the very top of the cull list, their act has been wearing thin by now, and the fact that they were not required on the tour says a lot.

For me Anton's dancing really is not up to the ingenuity and flair of the other pros. The only reason why this has not been highlighted more is the fact that he is given the 'comedy' act celeb, where the more technical and precise dancing is really not required!

As much as I like Erin, perhaps she is one of the originals who have had their turn.

The rest of the pros seem to have their own band of followers and can't see them releasing any of the others. Perhaps Vincent and Flavia may want a break from SCD to do their own show?

I beg them to drop Anton though.

Their show ends before SCD starts, my guess would be that even though their show is successful in it's own right they would still want to be asked back because appearing in SCD gives them valuable publicity...........I don't think pros really get a 'break' from SCD once they're dropped they're very rarely asked to be in the main series again unless it's for Christmas Specials or the tour like Ian Waite and Matt Cutler. I'm really hoping the producers hold on to Vincent and Flavia - none of the pros can match their flair for the Argentine Tango!

People have mentioned Katya and Robin being dropped - I know some will disagree but I personally think it'll be quite harsh if they're dropped since neither of them have been given strong enough partners to show us what they're capable of, considering the limitations of the partners they were given they did quite well with them IMO.

Don't mind if James and Ola go.

the article seems to be very speculative and it only speculates up to 5 pro,s and in fairness to James and Ola they were not dropped from the tour they were not invited as Craig wanted to give other pros a chance like Pasha and Katya.

I dont think the article tells us anything new at all

I know that Vincent wants to win Strictly before he is done (as does Flav) so I doubt either would decide to step back from it at present.

I would be happy to see the back of Anton & Erin. The show seems to have moved on from their true style dramatically.

Dammit! When I first saw the thread title I thought it said 'Props to be axed' and I did a little jig of delight...for 10secs

James hopefully - I think he really sealed his fate last series anyway.

Ha ha! I'm another one who misread and indulged in a bit of wishful thinking.

Although I wont be suprised to see some of the pros go next series this article is just fluff from sound bites given at an event.

I am never one for keeping things the same for the sake of it, thats how we end up with stale shows that finally curl up and die.

I think there will be changes but I dont see why a new production team would definately change a lot when they currently have a show thats had fantastic viewing figures and they already have a change in the judging panel that may or may not have been what they wanted. I would be astounded to see James and Ola back myself.
