Cat Rehoming
Jaymes
15-03-2012
Hello.

I was hoping someone could give me some advice on getting my two cats rehomed. They are 3 years old and are brothers. As much as I love my cats my personal circumstances have changed and I may need to rehome them.

I have ruled out putting an advert on sites like Gumtree and I wouldn't want them to go to a rescue centre. I know this has limited my options so I was hoping some body might have some ideas.

Thanks

J

Some branches of Cats Protection offer 'home-to-home' adoption whereby the cats are advertised on the website while still residing with the original owners. I don't know if you need to pay CP for this privilege or not but it saves on the cats being taken into shelter, depending on how much of a hurry you are in - because some cats take months or even years to rehome.

I know that most shelters try to foster out as many cats as they can so that the older cats still receive their home comforts and younger cats can become acclimatised to living in family units.

You need to ask around at work too. One of my colleagues was moving to New Zealand and changed her mind about bringing her cat with her - I stepped in to take him just days before she was due to leave the country. I've now had my Bernard for more than 6 years and he's a fantastic, loveable cat.

Good luck anyway. I couldn't bear to part with my own cats but I understand how some people's circumstances change over time.
