Marcus Collins is set to score the lowest debut album for an XF runner-up
Quote:
Marcus Collins is set to score the lowest-charting debut album for an X Factor runner-up ever, as his eponymous set squares up to a respectable entrance at No. 7. source: http://www.entertainmentwise.com/new...Midweek-ChartsAll other 2nd-placed finalists from the ITV1 show have seen their first record enter inside the Top 3, with G4, Ray Quinn and JLS each sprinting straight to No. 1. Most recently Rebecca Ferguson scored the fastest-selling debut album by a solo artist of 2011. he's even trying to sell it on QVC now http://www.entertainmentwise.com/new...or-Album-Sales

I hadn't realised all the X Factor runners up had a top 3 album. That's very good going.

Promo has been very poor so i am not suprised. When i told people he had an album out (as some of my classsmates r marcus collins fans), they hadn't a clue what i was on about.

I wouldn't say promo is that poor, they're running that advert non-stop and he was on This Morning etc.

A starring role in the West End Musical "Save The Last Dance For Me" beckons sooner rather than later.

I like him, but there's others who do what he does and they do it better. (Olly Murs, Bruno Mars)

Depends if they sell well. A high peak means nothing if your drop. See Bionic as an example.

I wonder if it's because it has been a rushed effort. X Factor barely finished 4 months ago,

Conveninatly released in the lead uo to Mothers Day...
Tbf basing whether its a flop or hit in its first week isn't fair. It *may* be a consistant seller for months on end...or it may just freefall into oblivion, can't tell yet |

Couldn't agree more. I've heard his White Stripes cover, pathetic attempt to garner some credibility when in reality it just shows him up for what he is - another X Factor karaoke singer. And yeah, all the X Factor fans can jump in and say "Oh but he can sing really well", being able to hold a tune does not mean you have the talent to produce good music. The sooner that god awful programme ends the better.

While I can understand them wanting to cash in, there is also such a thing as "too soon" and Marcus should have launched himself during the summer.

I think he was launched at the right time. Had he waited until the Summer he would have all the big summer tunes to deal with - any later would be too late.
If I was managing Marcus I would look beyond pop records - live work, musical theatre, even TV presenting and acting. There are also other reality shows involving ice skating and opera singing. His future is certainly the seaside holiday camps and panto but he needs to strike the iron whilst it's hot and grab every opportunity because it's assured his career path will follow the Ray Quinns and the Leon Jacksons. |

Maybe they are hoping for a slow burner?? The new song hasn't grabbed me or him in general..but then neither has Rebecca Ferguson and she got to number 3 right?

Maybe the decline of X Factor is beginning to kick in.
