Anyone else going this year? Lovely little festival in Banbury, always a great atmosphere, and a pretty decent lineup if you're into your folk

I used to live in Banbury, it'd take the 11 months for the town to prepare for the hippy invasion

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much support on these forums for musicians who can play their own instruments, sing live, and write their own songs....

Nope. Only if you are a fan of Rhianna, Adele, Gaga, Beyonce or Britney will you find plenty of support here.

Come to think of it Fairport's founder member, Richard Thompson has become a keen fan of Britney these days.

I went to Cropredy a couple of times in the 1980s, and it was lots of fun.
I like Fairport, but I wish they could find a singer. Ever since Sandy Denny left, they've sounded like a group of instrumentalists having a go at a bit of singing until they can find a replacement.

Unforchantly I can't get, but it's good to see Richard Thompsons back at Cropredy.

Completely agree with this. I used to go to Cropredy almost every year through the 90s and early 00s and always loved it, but it was rarely for the actual music. The lineup has been better for the last few years but it used to be the case that there would only be a handful of really good artists on throughout the weekend, with Fairport Convention definitely not included. As you pretty much have said, they sound lie a glorified tribute band and have not once impressed me at any of the Cropredy festivals I have attended, which is quite bad considering the quality of their back catalogue.
