Best phone for Flash games?
radiosgalore

OK I have read all sorts on this forum about Flash and mobile phones however my contract is up for renewal in May and I wondered if anything out now or the near future will be able to handle the crunch power required for FB and G+ games. Samsung Galaxy S3 when that comes out i'm thinking but there may be something else around

OK Flash would rule out Apple products but Flash GAMES might rule out Android too.

If you are talking about things like Farmville then even my wifes netbook struggles with that in a browser .... would you really want to try and play that on a small touchscreen ?

However ..... many of the games now have specific Apps for Android I believe (and Id assume they have similar on the Apple market).

Would these work on the Galaxy Note at all?

Personally I wouldn't choose a phone based on flash alone. A lot of the websites that have free flash games are transitioning to HTML5, and that works better on mobiles generally. An app that is written and optimised for the device it runs on will always work better than a one size fits all type game that's written with desktop systems in mind.

Similar but not that. I play Edgeworld a lot. Faction based war game. Of course most of the time I would be on the PC but when i'm waiting for or on the bus I may as well use the time. Why would Android be ruled out? Are Windows phones better? A blackberry would fall on its face and Symbian well less said about them the better!

If its quad core with over 1GB ram it might. It would have to have higher specs than the Galaxy S2 though

If you want Flash AT ALL then avoid Apple (and I think Winmo).

Flash will be around for quite some time yet ..... yes the current stance is that mobile flash will die out .... but probably not until AT LEAST your next free upgrade

BUT .... i wouldnt assume that flash games will play.

Many Flash games you can't use at all, regardless of whether your device supports Flash or not.

The control method is the stumbling block. Some games have control methods conducive to mouse & keyboard input which a touchscreen interface just can't effectively emulate, if at all.

Really, the only games that are properly usable on a small touchscreen, is one designed for a small touchscreen. Something I wouldn't be surprised if no Flash games offered.

I can't help thinking the OP has over-inflated expectations here and is destined to be disappointed.

I hadnt thought of the input issue. I was going on the angle of the sheer crunch power to handle it. While the games I play would work it would be fiddly. I guess I will likely go for the Galaxy S2 then unless there is another phone out or coming out that is of similar or higher spec. I do like to push phones as far as they will go!

Give me an example and I'll try on my nexus.

Many FB games are available as apps (http://gadgetabc.com/2011/09/12/9-fa...-games-iphone/) and work far better that way too, did you have any games in mind?

Edgeworld. Facebook, G+ and the website. Interestingly the owners are Kabam and Google has a large stake in that company so amazed they don't have an android app. Even if I can't FB apps to work I will want the fastest phone I can afford. Contract is up in may so include up and coming phones if there is a release date available

But then if he waits for them, there'll be even faster ones just over the horizon to wait for, and he'll never buy anything.

While I agree I think we will see quad core phones very soon if that's your thing.

Personally I would just get an iPhone 4S or Galaxy Nexus now.

hhmmmm. If I could get an iPhone for £30 a month and no handset cost I might. But since that isnt gonna happen I might consider the Nexus or the S2. Probably the latter after reading this comparison

While I agree that the S2 is better the OS updates are far slower.

I agree and personally I couldn't care less about it

My computer isn't even quad core as for my usage there would be no advantage.

Can't be as bad as HTC surely. I had a Desire and that took the micky. Honestly I think the biggest concern is crunch power. I'm going to batter any phone and push it to the limit just to see how much punishing the CPU can take. ie loading the web version of facebook and trying to play flash games, I think I torrented a Linux distro once as well at once point. Plus regular audio and video streaming
