We all know Radio 1 are complete snobs when it comes to track-listing of material but why have Capital snubbed her? I think it's really disappointing that radio stations are snubbing UK acts. Alex has fallen to #6 now on I-Tunes so it's unlikely she'll be able to maintain her #2 midweek position now on Sunday.

She is #3 in mid weeks today so most likely be #3 or #4...
like 36 hours to go until the week is over.

Don't really know why Capital snubbed her considering she was the #1 played uk artist in 2010 which is bizzare.

Maybe they don't like Elephant, we'll never know... Hopefully they'll get onboard for the second single though once they have taken on board that Alex can still crack the top 5 without ANY major airplay from Cap or Radio 1.

She has done very well though to even crack the top 5 IMO.

Yes she has done great without major airplay but the song is awful why has it got so much auto tune its totally unnecessary. I miss her old stuff! Plus she is coming across as really unlikeable these days, maybe she has made a few enemies on her way up!

its a terrible, autotuned mess that couldve been sung by anyone....sounds just like what capitol love!

i agree with the above comments, she does come across as really unlikeable and very arrogant. ive always said that. she goes on like she already is up there with the greats just because she sung with beyonce who was paid a fortune to do it AND had a single to plug. half of the big people artists probably dont even know who she is. she reminds me of christina whatsit from dancing on ice...nobody seems to like her but she doesnt really do anything wrong, its just her that people dont like

Well, she's actually on Radio 1's B list at the moment.

And I don't think it's fair to say their "snubbing UK acts" particularly when looking at their playlist they have - Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, JLS, Labrinth, Lostprophets, Michael Kiwanuka, Nero, Plan B, Stooshe, Maccabees, Tinchy and that's only on the A list.

Can't really comment on Capital, since I don't listen to it. To me, Elephant not being on the radio is no great loss. I really dislike the song.

I don't get the arrogant thing. Well vocally she is up there with the greats (and I'm not joking), she held her own against Gladys Knight and Yolanda Adams. She's not changed a bit IMO, she's still as bubbly and talkative as she always was. But the job of radio is to play a song, NOT to dislike the artist. I don't think she's unlikeable, she's funny and a lovely person. And IMO she's made enemies because she's the best at what she does and is very successful, and despite people wanting her to flop, she hasn't. And the Bey duet had nothing to do with it, Bey's kept in contact (seeing her at the studio) and invites her to events and so (she even got her a US record deal, which Syco didn't.) I don't know why Capital aren't playing her, it's very very strange. I mean why are they still playing We found love after it was a big hit in late October 2011? It's Mid March 2012....they really need to stop overplayng Riri. It's at #45 on itunes, let it go...

Oh and the big artists do know who she is (Flo-Rida, Diddy, Pitbull, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Rihanna, Gaga and many in the industry know her too ie producers - Rico Love, RedOne etc).

I think Alexandra should receive more support in general from the UK, especially from the radio's. I don't know why she doesn't. She isn't my cup of tea and I really think Elephant is a mess (Alexandra can do much better than this autotuned club crap) but she is extremely talented. Vocally, she's amazing and one of the best singers we have in the UK.

I hope they are snubbing Elephant purely because it's an awful song (though the radio's play far worse songs on a regular basis) and not because they have a vendetta against her. She needs a solid second single and hopefully they'll play her.

Because they don't like it.......

You do know that no one has a right to automatically be on the play list don't you, even if it is your favourite!

Of course not, but it just seems weird. They play that sort of music too, All other stations are playing it bar them now, so it looks odd. And lol...Rihanna begs to differ

I would say it is down to her being from the X Factor stable. The X Factor is very uncool.

Capital likely think it is generic crap from a rather talented woman who could be doing so much better

Good post. I don't get why so many threads are springing up about one song that isn't getting airplay. It's such a non event.

Cause it's from a big successful UK act (well her career is only 3 years old). It seems odd as the play that sort of music and currently playlist worse (the Hardest ever - I tried to like it but...the second half is dire along with the chorus). It's like the new Beyonce/Rihanna/Gaga lead single getting no airplay on the big 2 radios. It looks weird.

Alexandra Burke is nowhere near as big as these acts.

Maybe they're not playing it because it's s***. An Elephant in the room? Okay dear

You'd be wrong. She was one of the most played artists on radio in 2010, and Capital have always always supported her....Only Radio 1 tends to snub X Factor acts....

Her record label are not greasing palms for it to be played..They are putting money into plugging other newer artists from the X-factor camp at the mo (1D, cher lloyd etc)

Syco are not the main label in charge of her career. She realised what you are saying and moved to RCA as a joint deal.

Pixie Lott's management definitely have some sort of financial deal with Capital. They have played her last few singles to DEATH and still are today - but hey it's successfully landed all her average singles of late into the top ten.

Yes but on a UK scale we don't really have a comparison. It's down to opinion, it's not dire. I like it (I didn't initially). And Americans do too (she has fans on the skorpion show - youtube it).

They are far richer than Syco. But they use their money for proper promo. They had her everywhere. The release strategy was perfect, it was only Capital and R1 that were not playing her. All the songs in the top 60 on airplay are playlisted by them. They're ridiculously influential.

Mmm it is weird. They have a deal with R1 too. Her last album was spun to death even months after the last singles had ceased to be hits (well only the first two really were).

Surely capital is independant radio and can make independant decisions about what they put on their playlist

Cowell still has influence though doesn't he. Alex admitted so in a recent interview with Digital Spy.

They are also probably ignoring it because the song isn't that great. Alex, to be fair, is just another female vocalist out there. She isn't really bringing anything new to the party is she.
