Any numbers for last night's Bank Job please?
Even celebrity specials couldn't save The Bank Job. Sure to be cancelled now, you would think. |

A somewhat cynical reason for Homeland's rise could be more watching live after it cut off early on recordings last week. (mine included)
Last night they billed it as finishing at 22:05 and it did, so shouldn't have been a problem this week. |

Very rare to see a US import show an increase in ratings these days from its debut episode, am struggling to think the last time this happened? Glee?

![]() Christ, what do you make of ITV on a Tuesday then! Or Saturdays, once "the TV night of the week"? ![]() UD, whilst clearly disappointing (mitigating factors already discussed), overnighted only 700k behind ITV's DOI "filler" and will likely outrate WWTBAMLCMDS once the official proper ratings come out. According to Broadcast, last night's Millionaire is the most watched episode for more than 3 years.
Looks like ITV have picked a good time to bring back the "normal" version. The big Sunday night news remains DOI's ratings woe. For one of the "big five" talent-reality formats, it is very much in trouble and looking past its sell-by date. |

And it's a pretty sad state of affairs that ITV proclaim WWTBM's biggest rating in 3 years, or whatever, for a one time ratings colossus - a 19m gold-plated juggernaut - getting a piffling 5.3m!
Though I imagine Cowell will be doing the same a couple of years hence, when a clapped-out TXF pulls off a stunning 6m against Countryfile or Holby City, or something...

BREAKING:
Apologies for the 3 in a row posts, but Mark Thompson has confirmed he is stepping down as BBC DG in the Autumn. Can they get Greg back? Or Agent Fincham?

Nearly 5m in the overnights is "close to collapse"?

And whilst you're making all your excuses it doesn't give you pause for thought that the week after ITV1's Sunday night drama competition ends and ITV slot in bland filler Upstairs drops and doesn't grow. That it was 'only' 700k behind Millionaire is in no way, shape or form something to be proud of. Especially when you consider that its clear that the Dancing Results weren't a particular big drawing keeping viewers hooked to ITV1. EDIT - Also looking at the timeshift for last weeks episode I'm not sure I share your confidence that Upstairs will pull ahead of Millionaire in the finals and if it does it'll be very close. Quote:

Here's a shocker. Defend the BBC's terribly performing drama and put the boot into ITV1's poorly performing reality.

Sky Sports F1 in the viewing summary, but no top ten.
or Kantar haven't monitored it yet I'd expect there to be some top 10 data next week, but as ever don't hold me to that

By its previous standards, a live audience of under 7 million for a semi final is poor for DOI and even less interest in who actually makes the final would suggest some changes need to be made before January swings round again. Is it the third year running that the opening episode has been the highest of the run?
What I would like to know regarding SKY and F1 is if there has been an upsurge in people signing up because of their acquisition? Hard to know what to make of the first figures. Solid for BBC1 with the usual suspects but again poor for Upstairs Downstairs. UD should be punching higher than that and if it had BBC1 would have won the night as DOI results isnt gaining viewers. Overnights of less than 5 million arent good enough for recommision imo. Iv watched it and it is good period drama, but its evident that nobody really "loves" it. And thats a hard thing to overcome. Im not surprised at WWTBAM ratings, inheriting the DOI audience with nowhere to go without a good look at a listing magazine, many of them would have hung around imo. As such I dont think its that great a performance. |

Can someone with access to detailed past records do me a favour and check something out, please? Last Saturday BBC4 showed, for the third time, an episode of Inspector Montalbano called "Excursion to Tindari". If I remember correctly, the first time it was shown it got about 200k, then for its first repeat about a year later, it got over 500k. Last week's second repeat got 680k!!!
Is this a record for any programme, let alone a foreign subtitled one, for its repeats to increasingly exceed its original showing? K |

So the BBC's copy of Downton is struggling to survive. There might be a lesson there for pale imitations of ITV shows, regardless of the hype

watching the looped Saturday repeats (once in a while) on ITV3, I still prefer them over Downton or Upstairs Downstairs 2.0

![]() data for w/e 11th March 2012 now available on BARB website rant/enjoy/whatever ![]() LDFSR, Casualty, Holby, UD, MasterChef all posting fairly unremarkable numbers. Even two eps of The One Show getting >5m figures doesn't mask a fairly bland showing. On BBC2, I see Top Gear got 6.16m - still without question one of the top shows of the week - and White Heat started off with a decent 2.51m (though will plummet I suspect), Sarah Millican did ok with a strong 2.42m debut. A good 3.27m figure for MOTD too, I see. |
