I was sure Ballykissangel moved to Wednesdays, but obviously others remember otherwise. Perhaps it was something else then - frankly these Sunday dramas do all merge into one.
Ballykissangel moved to Thursday nights IIRC after EastEnders. Didn't really perform well, then again, the show wasn't really performing after Stephen Tompkinson and Dervla Kirwan's departures after the end of Series 3, and clashes with Heartbeat.

Going back to the previous thread, the DVD/Blu-Ray of the 25th Anniversary Phantom of the Opera concert runs at 160m (137m excluding encore).

So if C5 showed it in full it would have eight 3m 50s ad breaks and run for 3h 10m.

I expect it will be cut.

Avatar last showing on Sky 3D today, HD next Thurday and network premier on C4 next Sunday.

Is three days the shortest ever window from pay to free?

Can't see it doing big numbers on C4 in all honesty, like how Titanic bombed in the ratings on Xmas Day all those years back...the cinema ticket sales were so high that most who are interested have seen it, and general reaction to the film was average/poor. I also think its the kind of film you'd only want to watch again at a Cinema or if you have a big screen HD/3D Bluray set up at home.

Avatar aggregated 1.7m on its first three days on Sky Movies (excluding 3D) which is way above average and has a very high 8.0 score on IMDB with 418k voters.

As for Titanic, not the best way to watch a three hour film with all the distractions of Christmas Day.

Avatar will rate very well IMO. A rating of over 4m (inc. +1) is likely, but at the very least it should rate low 3s.

If you are going to have a stab at the DSRPG this weekend, my tip would be to predict high for this one.

Dancing on Ice Final on ITV1 and Countryfile/Antiques Roadshow on BBC1. DOI may dent it a bit (and Avatar will probably dent DOI a bit), but the thing that may dent it most is the 5:50pm start as the clocks will have gone forwards. Still think it should do 3-4m though.

It doesn't really matter. Big film premieres (and for me Avatar is firmly in that category) much like live sport, are normally robust enough to cope with anything thrown at them.

DOI has been on the weak side this series anyway.

ITV might have something to say about that after the last Harry Potter premiere! Those were pretty extreme circumstances though and it'll probably do much better second time round. Avatar should still do well though.

True. I still feel the number of HP repeats on ITV1 at the end of last year was a big factor there.

You're probably right. The irony there is the following day a 3:55pm repeat of Philosopher's Stone got a similar rating to the premiere the night before! They overexposed HP in the latter half of last year though. I think if they hold off on it now until Christmas and give Half Blood Prince another screening in a nicer slot around then it could rate really well as people seemed to miss the premiere.

Its less than 2 and a 1/2 years since it was premiered in cinemas, so it just shows how much quicker movies make it onto terrestrial tv these days. Wasn't it something like a 4 or 5 year wait in the 1980's?

A bit poorer for Benidorm compared to the past few weeks, but still a very good rating.

Hope the ratings for the lunch sport battle are reported... Six Nations (BBC1), F1 Highlights (BBC2) and FA Cup (ITV1).

Firstly, its younger audience is more likely to go out on a Friday night.
And secondly, it had a higher audience share than Emmerdale
Stop picking on Eastenders.

And any ratings for plucky little Helen Skelton?

Avatar may have taken more at the box office but remember films are judged on takings, not people watching them - so taking into account both inflation and rip-off 3D prices I doubt as many people saw Avatar as Titanic.

That said I can't see it ratings particularly well. According to the Daily Star (don't ask, don't judge, don't believe!) C4 have shelled out over £3m for the rights for just two showing so need it to do well. The slot C4 have put the first showing in suggest the Daily Star are talking bullshit - but then again C4 have proved time and time again they are that stupid.

P.S. Notice Jay Hunt has commissioned her perfect show for Thursday nights - something that combines selling junk with revamping houses.

A bit low for Benidorm but it gets 6 screenings in a week so it will still be 8-9m in total which beats most comedies

Even higher probably. In the officials last night's episode will end up with 7-7.5m, plus another million for ITV2's Sunday repeat and a further 1-1.5m for the Tuesday ITV1 repeat and it should be well above 9m and possibly close to 10m. Speaking of comedy repeats, I notice the Sunday screening of TV Burp has perked up a bit recently - 3.9m last week. ITV will miss it when it goes.

Perhaps more surprising is that the YBF repeat on Sunday got 3.6m, which combined with the 4.7m on the Saturday gives it a total of 8.3m, which when ITV2 repeats and timeshifters are taken into account should lead to something approaching 9 million for last week's YBF, which is quite incredible for what it is. Obviously there will be a few repeat viewers in there but even so...

Good old ITV overkill, I wonder if they'll run an omnibus at the end of the series on ITV2. However, it's still a good hit for ITV and no doubt the crossover with Coronation St helps as the Northern characters will appeal to the same audience.

Lol, I guess if you repeated anything enough times it would get 8 or 9 million.
