Alesha Dixon just confirmed on Loose Women BGT Live shows start on 6th May. Not sure if that's right or not seeing as that's a Sunday. Probably right week wise seeing as though as May Day Bank Holiday is on the 7th I believe and normally the Live shows is during a Bank Holiday week. Works out 7 weeks of auditions/pre-recordered shows based on that.

Cowell, Holden and co seem to be doing there best to promote The Voice and get everyone watching BBC1 tomorrow. They shouldn't be getting into a war or words and just focus on bigging up their own show and the quality of acts on that.

“Former Little Britain producer Myfanwy Moore is to become ITV’s first dedicated comedy commissioner in more than 18 months.

Moore has been drafted in to help oversee the broadcaster’s scripted comedy push, which has seen it commission pilots – such as The Job Lot starring Russell Tovey – in an effort to build on the success of Benidorm.

She will oversee narrative-driven shows and sitcoms, leaving ITV commissioning editor of entertainment and comedy Claire Zolkwer to focus on comedy entertainment, such as Celebrity Juice.

Zolkwer will also oversee the development of a new raft of comedy entertainment vehicles for both ITV1 and ITV2.

Moore will join the broadcaster later this month, reporting directly to director of entertainment and comedy Elaine Bedell, and is ITV’s first dedicated comedy commissioner since Michaela Hennessy-Vass left in August 2010.

Moore was the first director of original programming at the Paramount Comedy Channel, which helped launch the careers of Sacha Baron Cohen and Noel Fielding.

More recently, she was editor of new comedy for BBC in-house, where she executive produced Little Britain and The Mitchell And Webb Situation.

ITV keep saying they want to improve their comedy output so hopefully this will help somewhat with that. The Thursday 8:30comedy slot, once Corrie's gone, they keep saying about needs to work otherwise that's another that'll end up another flopzone.

True, although then again it was The Voice's official Twitter account that made a dig about there not being any ad breaks on their show today. I think they have been just as guilty of that.

I sometimes wonder how smash-hit comedies of the past would fare in the ratings if they were to start today with all other things equal.

ITV shows like Rising Damp, Man About The House, George And Mildred, A Fine Romance and of course, Benidorm's less potty-mouthed big brother Duty Free.

And BBC shows like Porridge, Dad's Army, Steptoe And Son, Fawlty Towers and Only Fools And Horses. I'd like to think, seeing as how Mrs Brown's Boys acheived an impressive peak of 8m+ for its recent run, that these comedies would have fared likewise. It'll be interesting to see how Miranda does in the Aiutumn. Can she reach 7 or 8 million in the officials? (To me 7m in the officials in this digital multichannel age equates to big ratings hit.)

The first episode of Dad's Army ''The Man and the Hour'' was transmitted on BBC1 on July 31, 1968, and had an audience of 7.2 million. There were only three channels in those days of course..The show is still being repeated on BBC2 on Saturday nights and regularly gets 2.5 million.

EastEnders looking like the standout rating from last night. Very good share - and looks to be turning a corner after a lowly few months. (Though making predictions about a recovery based on one weeks numbers is probably just as daft as making predictions of a "crisis" based on that too!).

Very solid number for John Bishop's challenge show as well - odd that it did so much better than David Walliams'. I suppose it was more timely - and it did also basically dominate a whole week of Radio 1, which always seems to do wonders for the numbers.

Its not really who is guilty of what, both are as bad as each other, its more the fact that any press stories about the clash/rivalry is only going to boost The Voice and not BGT. Cowell and everyone associated with BGT are just playing into the BBC's hands.

Yes but it's not like they're putting these stories out by themselves. Clearly journalists are asking them about The Voice - it was the BGT press screening yesterday and the media have already built up this rivalry so it was always going to be talked about.

It's better for Cowell to talk about it and get BGT in the papers than say 'no comment' surely?

I cant see how its going to help BGT, people know its coming back and people know what its about so there's very little to be gained.

Where as, you have Amanda Holden saying Tom Jones is going to spin in his grave and Cowell saying The Voice is a mess, its just going to make more people interested in and watch The Voice to see what the fuss is about.

The best strategy would have been to just play down the clash, say its good that viewers have a choice of shows and not say anything that is going to promote The Voice.

Okay had a look at BARB for the X Factor lanch rating back in 2004.

Here it is http://www.barb.co.uk/report/weekly-...mmes-overview? ( You will have to go to 2004 and the first week of September)

5.25 million at 7.30 in late summer in 2004. Looking through it built to 7million and touched 8 million. For the final it got 9 million.

So I would say a 7 million rating for the voice tomorrow is pretty good. However I do expect more because it is rally being pushed. I think whether the voice increases over it's run is far more important than a big launch. It's going to get 7 million tomorrow I am shore of it. But my main worry is if it just collapses to 5 million the 3million and end's on a whimper.

This is a huge gamble and I can't help but thinking it is going to flop. BGT will get a strong 8 million opening and will in my opinion rate well this series.

Ether way don't you love a good old fashioned BBC vs ITV ding dong! This is what us rating nerds love!

My final prediction:
The Voice 7.38 million
Britain's Got Talent 8.10 million

Due week commencing 7th April:

Robson’s Extreme Fishing Challenge (Series 5: 1/8)
Robson Green has taken his tackle bag to the most extreme parts of the planet to fish in some of the most fabulous, far-out, far-away places. From South America to the South Pacific, from raging rivers to the open ocean, the Geordie has travelled the seven seas and met some of the greatest fishermen. In this series he is on his travels again, but this time things are different. This time it is serious. Well, sort of… In some of the world’s greatest fishing destinations, Robson will challenge local masters of their craft over five rounds of competitive fishing. To win he has to catch the most, the biggest and the best – it is Robson versus the world.

10 Things I Hate About… (Series 1: 1/4)
Robert Webb, in his supremely sardonic and witty way, looks back at the not-too-distant past without the benefit of rose-tinted spectacles. This week Robert guides us through 1995, running down what we were actually buying, what songs we were really listening to, which shows were genuinely on our TV sets and the celebrities who we were voting for.

William & Kate: One Year On
On 29th April 2011, William and Catherine were married in a fairytale wedding watched by more than two billion people and celebrated the whole world over. Since then Kate has succeeded in charming the media, and it seems her positive impact is also rubbing off on William. With compelling interviews from royal commentators, we examine the remarkable turnaround in the previously publicity-shy prince and look at how he overcame his deep distrust of the media.

‘The Phantom of the Opera’ at the Royal Albert Hall (RESCHEDULED)
Channel 5 presents a specially staged production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s modern masterpiece, performed at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2011. On 9th October 1986, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical re-imagining of Gaston Leroux’s novel ‘Le Fantôme de l'Opéra’ staged its world premiere at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End. Since then, ‘Phantom’ has been seen by over 130 million people in 145 cities all over the world, from Taiwan to Argentina and Hong Kong to Hungary. It is the most successful entertainment project in history, having taken over $5 billion at the box office.

Movie Highlight: Toy Story (1995) (RESCHEDULED)
Classic Pixar animated fantasy in which a child’s toys come alive whenever he leaves the room. Woody is an endearing pullstring cowboy who is liked and looked up to by the other toys as their leader. When a new toy turns the other toys’ heads and becomes top toy in Andy’s affections, Woody is jealous of astronaut Buzz Lightyear and tries to get rid of him. But when both toys become lost, they must join forces to get back home before Andy moves house. With the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen.

You can say that again, two weeks ago the thread was full of posters declaring EE IN CRISIS. Two weeks later and they're very quiet

I wonder how The Chase will do tonight with Pointless not being on?

Sport Relief Night will no doubt get massive ratings, even though it is some of the most unimaginative TV of the year. One of the highlights according to the trailer is 'A special edition of Strictly Come Dancing' - how long did they spend brianstorming before they came up with that idea!

I remember one poster using that word once, that was it. The EP recently resigned of course so I wouldn't overplay the whole storm in a teacup thing too much.

To be fair, EastEnders has indeed recovered a fair bit for Heather's exit after the alarming declines of February, but it's not exactly surprising that a major storyline such as this has increased interest for a time. Personally I'm more interested in seeing whether it provides a lasting boost or not.

I think I heard something on the radio about the dancing being under water, but I was driving, and im not a Chris Evans fan, so I may have misheard.

As for Sports Relief generally, its almost enough to make you watch ITV 1, thankfully The Mentalist is on tonight, so I wont have to sink to those depths. Apparently there is some Mock The Week stuff, but ill just watch that online.

That's your interpretation. You don't know whether it will harm BGT. The Voice doesn't need 'promoting', the BBC have spent a good bit of money doing that themselves. However that story is out there and the papers are going to talk about regardless of whether Simon chips in or not. From his perspective I'd say it's far better to give them a few quotes in order to give the show more exposure.

It's all panto at the end of the day, and I think most people will see that. I don't think Simon is taking this 'war' as half as seriously as some.

10 Things I Hate About sounds like those comedic talking head shows that Channel 4 would air, wonder if this Channel 5 dipping its toe into comedy again without doing a panel show or sitcom.

Wonder why Phantom and Toy Story were pushed back a week, what airing alongside OUAT7?

(Balanced - not a word I'd use too often in a comment about Loose Women)”

True or not - according to one of the papers this week ITV insisted on the Alesha Dixon booking after discovering that LW had already got Danny O'Donahue on the show...

On This Morning the other day Holly and Amanda Holden sparred a bit about Saturday's clash without ever using the words 'The Voice'. BGT got several big mentions but Holly was just told 'Good luck with that other thing' or some such,

A solid rating for EE last night and a very good share. Murder Week has averaged 8.9m in the overnights so I'd expect that to be close to 10m in the officials. Is this the turning point they've been waiting for? The question is now, can it hold onto these extra viewers? Emmerdale did fine last night and an improvement on the last two Thursday's. Corrie looks low, but after Monday's figures it was always going to. Sport Relief is going to knock all of ITV's schedule tonight inparticular the second Corrie (under 6m maybe?) and Benidorm (maybe 4.5m?). As for the BGT vs TV debate - the sooner we know the figures the better!!

Yep, it's a very different commission for them. But I love Robert Webb so I'm looking forward to it.

Not sure. I think they might have decided to save Toy Story for Easter Sunday when it won't have to take on the Harry Potter film. Mrs. Doubtfire now provides the lead-in for OUAT.

I think so. The 'Aftermath' continues into next week and looking at spoilers for April it's running alongside other Big storylines
So i guess we will have to wait and see but im very confident anyway
