A lot of things can be said late of night which aren't really meant though.

I think the Voice is going to be a grower. Start of OK but get bigger as the weeks go on. The Judges seem to work well and have a little banter with eachother. I quite like the whole Blind Auditions idea too

I for one will be back next week

87% of poll voters were impressed enough by The Voice Uk's launch to watch next week: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1644515

This is an excellent result on Digital Spy whose users are always more criticial than Twitter.

Hmm, maybe I'll give the opening episode another go. The first half hour was as dull as anything but it sounds as though it picked up after then.

I agree that it started slow, I wanted to love it but I was close to turning off, it picked up just at the right time (to hopefully prevent people switching over) and the last 30 minutes were what I wanted it to be from the start.

Are you kidding? It's edited in advance. Plus The Voice stuck to that for too long, the film effect also annoyed me.

A good show though, BGT still wins for me

Agreed the first half was very slow. When they were doing 3 acts at a time it moved along at a better rhythm

It'd be a huge concern if it wasn't - The Voice has been off air for 25 minutes.

Dunno why Twitter has banned the term 'BGT' from trending. That would be top if it was allowed.

I love how in the Netherlands thevoiceuk, Tom Jones and Jessie J are all trending. Looks like a lot of people over here were watching BBC1 as well.

I know quite a few Dutchies that tune into the BBC above things like what TROS offers.

Really strong start from The Voice I thought. Good talent and most surprisingly for me, I thought the 'coaches' were all brilliant - particularly Will.I.Am who I would usually have little time for.

It's not as if its revolutionary (or anymore 'credible' than The X Factor) but it felt fresh and was a really enjoyable watch.

Very true, I'm one of those Dutchies! Didn't expect it to be trending on Twitter though.

The Voice UK is winning the DS poll by a landslide about which show was best tonight: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s107/...best-poll.html

Knew this would happen, if a programmes shows 2 to 3 times more talent than the other show, people are receptive to that and prefer it.

Are you part of the BBC's PR team? You are doing one hell of a job!

Or if a forum tends to detest one kind of show they're bound to vote for the other. The Cowell shows got short shrift on this forum, even before The Voice came along.

Agreed, I wouldn't take any of these unscientific polls too seriously.

I guess it all depends on what people want to see.

BGT once again had people with obvious learning difficulties put on stage for cheap laughs by the producers while TV was full of genuine people who are just looking for a career in music.

So it will all depend on what people see as ''entertainment''. A Talent show based purely on talent, or a talent show filled with joke acts, many of whom appear to have learning difficulties, put on TV to be laughed at in the name of ratings.

I liked the Voice to be honest, and I found it better than the audition shows for X Factor, as there isn't the exploitative element we have on those shows.

So does is succeed as a worthy show in that sense, IMO it does, however this may mean viewers may not warm to it as much.

Very interesting to see viewing figures, not only tonight but also through the series

tomorrow this thread will be unbearable. It will either be posters saying BGT is in crisis or the Voice will be a huge flop.

Of course, The Voice could be exploiting people in another way, like the act with alopecia.

I think, depressingly, we will discover that that is very much a part of what draws people to these shows. It's sad that people find that kind of thing entertaining, but the fact is if it wasn't something that worked very well they wouldn't do it.

The Voice did threaten to go down the sob story route at one point though which I thought they promised not to do, so maybe it didn't fully live up to its promise in that regard. But overall yes it was well intentioned throughout and that's one major point of difference between the two shows. I'm just not sure it's a strong enough USP to win a ratings war, now or in the future.

But how?

Her voice did all the talking. She could sing. The fact she had alopecia was second to her actual talent.

Now compare her alone to the likes of Wagner..
