My tv guide says it was always going to be Planets Funniest Animals at 6.45 and Dancing on Ice at 7. Due to FA Cup match, semi final draw plus the news, they surely couldnt fit in the tv burp repeat this week?

No idea, it's the american version as well rather than the UK remake. Seems strange scheduling. The first time it has ever been on prime time ITV1.

It is as billed though, there is no TV Burp repeat this week due to the FA Cup. DOI was always due to start at 7pm.

Well it was in the printed Radio Times so it looks like it was originally scheduled. Seems very odd but I guess it's because in the final schedules they opted to start DOI at 19:00 instead of 18:40 (which is what it was down for in the provisionals) so they needed a short filler and this looks to be it. A bit surprising as isn't it normally kept to ITV2?

They'd have been better off running DOI from 18:45-20:15 and giving Millionaire 75 mins as no doubt they'll have to cut off a couple before the end again. A bit of thought wouldn't have gone amiss.

With no tv burp next year, maybe itv are currently trialing what show to put at 6.30pm on sundays before doi in 2013? They will look at ratings for Planets Funniest Animals tomorrow, if theyre good, expect more of it next year.

The Voice are heading for a fall if the ratings aren't good, there seems to be two angles, the "It's ALL about The Voice" line and secondly 'It is NOTHING like 'other talent shows'

If ratings aren't strong, how long before they show a freak contestant (100 stone fat women who sings really well for example) or X Factor style inter-judge bitching.

I'm sick of hearing about the two talent shows on next Saturday. I just want them both to be over.

in what way is it against the Voices format, to show a fat woman who can sing?

Really odd about Planet's Funniest Animals. Wouldn't be surprised if the filler dented DOI slightly.

Assuming Sky's Qualifying live rating is somewhere under 1 million (probably < 500k), then it is a drop on last year. Hoping to find that rating out tomorrow.

Doubt it, looking at the ratings for the Saturday night equivalent You've Been Framed!

This kind of filler is inoffensive, family friendly and unlikely to make people turn over whilst they wait for DOI.

I wonder how much of YBF's success is down to Harry Hill's narration though? Quite a lot I bet given that it quite often grows on its lead in (it's been building by 1m+ on its All Star Family Fortunes lead-in lately). Do The Funniest Things which is narrated by Stephen Mulhern does nowhere near as well for instance, so I'm not sure if an American show with an unknown (in this country at least) host would have the same appeal. Agree that it won't have dented DOI tonight though.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know what's going on with ITV's sitcom The Security Men? It was commissioned back in the Spring after the pilot went down well with ITV with a view to filming it over the Summer and airing it early this year. However I've heard nothing about it since it was commissioned and there are no signs of it being aired anytime soon - has it even been filmed yet? Looks like another Caroline Aherne delay, which is a shame as it sounded like it had potential and had a good cast lined up.

ITV1 are supposed to be screening comedies on Thursdays at 8.30 when Corrie moves back to its Wednesday slot later this year so maybe they're holding it back for then.

And it's official. Channel 4 show The Grand National from 2013.

Not only that - Royal Ascot, the Derby and Champions Day are also going to be broadcast on Channel 4.

I get Doctors back for 2 Extra Weeks

Channel4 covers so much more racing throughout the year so they might as well get these events too. Their coverage has always been good so fair play to them. It wont get 8million like on BBC1, maybe more like 5million but thats still good for Ch4.

That will come as a bit of a shock to some in here no doubt who felt the BBC would go all out to save it due to the royal connection, but I never felt that was particularly likely. C4 had cash to splurge on sport after their failed F1 bid, and this was a natural progression for them since they already air a lot of horse racing.

Some great ratings potential for them here especially with the National. I am sure they will do a great job as they already do with the smaller meets.

Horse racing on Channel 4 is fine as they show a lot of it anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if they get Claire Balding to host the events, she already does Crufts for More4 so it wouldn't be a bad idea for her to do the horse racing coverage,

God - Robbie will have a real dilemma if that turns out to be the case.


Or it could be Bolton v Sunderland. That is a tough one to call for ITV though until the outcome of the games are known. It is also possible with the Tottenham v Bolton game being rearranged that they could still have a replay to play after that which might put one semi-final back (though with them being at Wembley I'd imagine they'd try their best to get the replay in before the date).

I guess at least with them both being at the same venue ITV could at least say they'll take the Saturday 5.15pm match and the decision on which game that is could be delayed.


It's not like ITV not to milk Dancing on Ice - and I'm sure last year the semi-final was longer than 90 minutes. Indeed had it taken the extra 15 minutes tonight it still would have been in six parts so probably not noticeably that longer.


The peak will be down I imagine, but wouldn't be surprised if the averages across the entire meetings are much closer.

They've just announced on WWTBAMLCMDS (!) that real members of the public Millionaire will be back this Summer

Probably to fill either Tuesdays or Saturdays in the heart of Summer without having to commission new stuff (which people don't bother watching)

Or to throw against the Olympics...they could strip it across the fortnight.

EDIT: To be aired over the first two weeks of July - they're not going to do that, then!

I think it's been quietly scrapped. They haven't filmed any other episode since that pilot and the actors involved in the pilot have all moved on to other projects which are filming at the moment and for the next few months. So it looks like the show won't be going ahead.


If the application form is anything to go by, it looks like it'll be live and stripped nightly across the first two weeks of July. That's based on this question they ask on the form:

I thought Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar was being stripped too in July? They can't strip both?

That could be stripped for 2 weeks in mid to late July after Millionaire is over.

Maybe they've seen the stupidity of stripping Superstar so have quietly scrapped the idea for Millionaire?
