Where to buy a replacement headphone jack plug?
Inkblot

There doesn't seem to be a forum for headphones but they are a form of entertainment technology...

So does anyone know where I can buy a replacement headphone jack plug that has the slim form used for iPods and iPhones (and probably other portable music players). All the ones I've seen (including the one I bought) are too fat to fit into the cutout in my iPhone case.

Alternatively, a compact adapter from 3.5mm plug (fat) to 3.5mm plug (thin) would do the trick, but not as neatly.

I do only want the plug, not the headphones, so I can use my existing headphones whose plug got broken.

Most phones use a 2.5mm socket, not sure about your iphone.

Then something like this can adapt between 3.5mm and 2.5mm

You had me worried for a minute, but an online search confirms it is 3.5mm. But a very slim profile.

maplin easiest but expensive.

most jacks 3.5 mm not 2.5 ! check visually.

maplin currently have half price soldering irons.

most phones use enamelled wires. u have to burn off enamel with iron to solder.

remember to get polarity correct. or you could just swap your ears round. or stand on your head ......

My headphones' jack broke so I bought a plug from Maplin and soldered it on to the lead, and it's working fine. But the plug is physically too bulky to fit my iPhone when it's in its case, so I want a slimmer plug to replace the one I already bought, or failing that a female-to-male adapter that has a slimline plug on one end. Just hoped someone would know where they sell them.

Yes, if I can't find a plug that should do the trick.

Thanks.
