Alternatives to HTC wildfire S ?
I am looking for smallish android handset for around £130, has to be unlocked as I'll be virgin media £7 a month rolling sim only deal.
Not too fussed about its speed as I'm not a big mobile user and I have an android tablet for when I need computing on the go. I'm not going to be doing a lot of web browsing but will be using google maps + traffic and also hotspot for my tablet. I had a wildfire when it first came out, loved the HTC sense interface and liked the size. So thinking of getting the wildfire S however I have read a lot of reviews saying that it could be tight on memory as the sense interface is a bit of a memory hog which I know from my mrs desire. Just wondering if there are any alternatives I should look at that are easy to use and offer good performance, I don't mind modding it if need be. |

I have not got an android phone and I have never used one but here is a list of alternatives to the HTC Wildfire S that I have found on the Tesco Mobile web site.
I have tried to stick to around your £130 buget. And I know that you said Virgin and that I have posted android phones that are on Tesco Mobile but this is just to give you an idea of what alternatives there are to the HTC Wildfire S. One thing that I will say about the HTC Wildfire S from seeing it on the Internet is that to me it looks very smart and it does not look like a toy and more like quite a few android phone do. And the speed of the HTC Wildfire S at 600Mhz should not really be a problem unless you plan on playing games on it although very basic games should hopfully be fine. Also I have read that the HTC Sens interface is supposed to be very good and a joy to use. Handy if you use Facebook and Twitter as HTC Sens has Friend Stream to help you keep up to date with what your friends are up to. http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/ Over £100 Samsung Galaxy X Black and Orange £169.97 (Avalible Aprile 2012) Samsung Galaxy Ace Black £149.97 (Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is out next month but likely to be a lot more expensive). HTC Wildfire S White £139.97 Sony Ericsson Mini Pro White £129.97 Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Black £109.97 Under £100 LG Optimus Me P350 Black £69.97 Huawei Blaze Black £69.97 Samsung Galaxy Europa Black £64.97 Samsung Galaxy Mini White or steel Gray £89.97 Samsung Galaxy Y Black or Pink £89.97 I hope that this helps and good luck finding the phone that is right for you. |

Thanks for suggestions TV King. I had look through them and the only one that appealed was the Galaxy Ace. But TBH there does not seem to be much between them I would go the wildfire just because of Sense interface.
The other option I was thinking about was San Francisco II which comes in at around £30 cheaper so around £100. Though it can be picket up second hand for around £70. I forget to mentioned that my mrs, my home phone, my parents and a lot of my mates are on virgin so that would give me 3000 minutes to them, thus my minutes allowance does not need to be much. So I have two options for connection. £7 a month sim only gives me 125 mintes talk, 5000 text and 500mb data. Or if I willing to sign up for 24 months £11 a month get me 75 minutes, 500 text and 500mb data (which would suit me) plus a Wildfire S or Galaxy Ace. So £100 difference over 2 years and with option 2 and I get a new handset. |
