I cannot belive america killed off their longest serving child soap star
i just found out they killed off robin scorpio in general hospital i dont watch the show but i have a strong obsession with long serving soap actors so i tend to take note of them. she was in general hospital from september 1985 age 7 until this month of 2012 age 34 i dont think there is another soap actor worldwide who has past her, kate ritchie was close as she did 20 years.

The actress decided to leave of her own accord. The exit that they gave her has left the door open for her. She's been given the old "body burned beyond all recognition" and "only identifiable by jewellery" exit meaning that the likelihood of her showing up alive at a later date is quite high. Not only was she the longest serving but she is one of the few child stars who wasn't SORAS-ed during her time on the show.

We never actually saw her body. There was a body under a sheet that was apparently burned beyond recognition but we never saw her.

The first three were adults when they joined the show, I'm not sure about Helen Worth she may have been. I think Adam Woodyat is probobaly the longest serving actor who came in under the age of 18 as I'm not sure of Helen Worths age

Helen Worth was 23 when she first appeared although the character of Gail was meant to be 16. So she cant really be counted as the actress was an adult. I think your right with Adam Woodyatt being the longest serving child actor with an impressive 27 years.

I'd say 16 is classed as an adult joining a soap. Adam was old enough to have left school, be choosing acting as a career etc. It is a little different to a child of 7 who obviously will have been put forward by their parents. It is rare for a child actor to stay with a show into adulthood for a couple of decades (I can't think of anyone other than Kate Ritchie) but if they wabted to leave they wanted to leave.

Not really used much or as extreme as the US soaps but I think some UK soaps have aged a few characters up or down a few years not majorly but to suit s/l. |

To age a person normally a child to teenager or even adult quickly, for example a character born on screen in 2005 is now a 18 year old, they use it a lot in american soaps.

Yes American daytime soaps do it all the time with their kids. It's not as common over here. Louis fairhead and Ella Ashford in Casualty have both had their ages changed - Louis upwards (he was born in 96 so should only just have turned 18 but was in his late teens years ago) and Ella downwards as she was also born about 96 or 97 but is only about 14 now.
Ian and Bradley bioth aged by a year - turned 19 one year and 21 the next but that's fairly minor. Thanks, Harlowe and kitkat1971.

The Kennedy family in neighbours have all fallen victim to SORAS. Karl and Susan were about 40 when they arrived but are now only in their early 50s despite 20 years having passed. Their grandson Ben was born in late 2001 but is now 15/16 and Karl's daughter Holly was born in 2007 but now approximately 10 years old.
