edit: oh, and pepsi.com. and marlboro.com.
Curious why anyone would ever consider visiting those sites. I see enough of their advertising on hoardings (well not Marloboro for obvious reasons but same idea).

Clearly never tried an Ipad or any tablet device.

It's not about being a fan person. The Ipad is the best tablet, first of the current generation after the first failures too.

All tech experts will tell you Ipad is better.
Im a tech expert. I think my Asus Transformer blows the iPad out of the water for form and functionality.

next ?

If you have an iPad why would you even want to play flash games?
Agreed there are plenty of games for the iPad but some people might want to play some of those in Flash that haven't been ported to iOS.

However, my original comment was actually in response to a claim by another person that Flash was on the way out for desktops/laptops, which I would dispute because on that platform Flash is very much the dominant choice for implementing casual games.

If Flash was so important then iPhone's & iPad's would not sell as many as they do.

For me i find Flash causes more issues than it provides benefits wise and i don't really miss it. Every mobile device i've used that uses it burn it's battery whilst on it. More and more sites are transitioning away from Flash every day!

As for flash games well..... How well do flash games run on a Tablet anyways. I know of people with fairly new Laptops that have issues with them!

As for the new iPad it's a worthy upgrade nothing 'Magical' but still worth getting if you 1 don't have an iPad, 2 have an iPad 1
No point in upgrading if you have iPad or one of the other decent tablets! Just because people are not queuing doesn't mean the iPad isn't selling well, that would be idiotic to think that.

I wanted to play along to Davina McCall's gameshow, Million Pound Drop, and couldn't because it uses Flash. I know it sounds silly but it's things like this that put me off the iPad. It's bedtime surfing and couch surfing that attract me to the world of tablet PCs, yet I'm instantly limited.

The Pepsi site (homepage at least) is surprisingly lame for such a big company.

Flash is used for the sliding gallery at the top (arguably overkill), the panels that spin when you mouse over them (not even to reveal some further info, they just spin for no reason), and some animated bubbles in the background.

Whilst there are still more constructive uses of Flash, that's the sort of site that doesn't exactly make me miss Flash.

I have an iPad2. The new 'screen' does look impressive. If I had plenty of disposable income then maybe I'd upgrade, but I don't....so iPad 4 will be my step up...

If I want to use flash sites then I can just wait until I get home and use my desktop pc, it really isn't the end of the world.

Clearly it's an issue for some but not for everyone. I'm not one for using these online games that require flash.

We as a company have the first 2 versions of the iPad, a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and an Amazon Fire for web dev purposes.

The iPad (Gen 1 & 2) always had the better colour reproduction, screen response time but not quite as sharp as the Samsung.

I sprung the company credit card from the safe last Friday afternoon and dropped in to PC World on my way home, picked up an iPad (3rd Gen) Wifi 32 and used it exclusively over the weekend.

I heard that the screen was supposed to be fantastic. Over saturday and sunday using exclusively this unit I have ot say I did not notice the supposed improved screen. It was only on Monday morning in front of what I HAD considered to be a very good screen did the penny drop.

The screen is incredible, especially text rendering.

At the time I wasn't comparing.

The OMG moment was on monday morning when I switched on my 27" imac, I thought the screen was faulty, text was fuzzy.

and thats at between 3 an 4 ft from screen.

apart from the bbc site which has a mobile version, who would want to go on any of those other sites at any time, particularly on a mobile phone?

the same with the top 10 list of flash sites. i've never been on any. who wants to go on a website about milk?
A cow.

The odd app crashes as with every OS but all you do is double click the home button and shut it down.

Quite strange really. So much for fragmentation being a problem.

Alot of those was caused by Apple upgrading most handsets to iOS 5 and many apps didn't update to fully support iOS 5 until later.

Android doesn't really have the same issue as hardly any phones have the ICS update.

Fragmentation mainly causes issues for developers, it's much more difficult to write an app when you have hundreds of different specifications to deal with. PCs vs Consoles shows you an example of this.

Didn't the article say that most of the android ones were due to gingerbread updates rather than fragmentation.

Nice link ...... another myth busted.

I bought it for my son. He is thrilled.

But i could not see much difference. They had the 2 side by side in the shop. Yes the colours and clarity are better. But hey....it wasnt bad on the ipad2. so not worth the upgrade.
He would be if someone indulged a £400+ product on him, I imagine.

I don't think it's a big enough upgrade over iPad2, but the new iPad is a big difference from the original iPad. It still - it seems - knocks spots off other tablets out there too.

Phew.... a report was wrong .....

Well I'm back to my happy image of all apple employees wearing turtle necks and high-fiving each other every morning.

Still available in all Argos stores, Currys and Dixons.

Still available in Apple high street stores.

Ergo not selling fast enough.

Maybe Apple fell for their own marketing hype and overestimated sales

Lets see if they reduce the price now!!!. They still have truck loads of Ipad 2 to sell. The market is full of used Ipad 2's that wont shift.

The only way is to reduce the price of both the 2 and the new ipad. Or else they will sitting on a lot of stock for a while yet.

Best thing that will come out off it is they will be forced to delay their ipad 4 launch. Cant see it coming out in March 2013.

Did you even read the sales results !

Apple Sold 3 million units in the first 4 days making it the stongest launch yet. The difference in this case was that Apple have made shed loads of inventory to match the demand.

.
I never understood why people keep banging about flash, what are exactly people missing?
I'm a long time Ipad and Iphone user and the only time in the last year i needed flash on the Iphone was to create a Valentine's card from the Chanel make up website. I presume quite a niche interest. And i used both this devices for work.

I see no point in upgrading to the new Ipad if you already have an Ipad2, i'm quite surprised they are selling as they are, and people are indeed upgrading. I would only do it from the first Ipad.
My hubby upgraded to the Iphone 4S and in my opinion it's simply not worth it. He disagrees of course.

They have been better prepared then previous launches it seems, which were plagued by supply problems
