Great news, saw the two episodes of this and it was fun.

I'll also add Rescue Me, the later seasons, to this. Great show...never understood why it never got more love in the UK.

Parks and recreation - its hilarious. Its also quite positive and feel good - and has Rob Lowe in it.

I saw six episodes back to back on a long haul flight - it really made that 12 hour flight go quickly. Its a little like the IT crowd but set in a town hall (latterly facing spending cuts). So I am sure UK viewers could relate!

RTE have bought it for Irish viewers so they certainly see it translates across the Atlantic - why can't we see it in the UK (or at least be able to buy it on DVD?).

as a fellow deaf person, it would be a great TV show for the UK'ers to see the different in deaf/hearing communities aswell as it's decent storylines!
I agree, I watch this and it's a great show. I'm a hearing person and I love the show, it certainly does show both sides of the coins this show, and it shows the struggles the deaf commuinity have with the hearing community, all whilst a great story lines runs in the background.

I watch both. I don't think it really has a Desperate housewives feel to it. It's not a dark comedy like DH tbh.
Revenge is very much it's own show and is very different to near enough everything I have seen before.

There's so many brilliant twists and turns in it.

To Me Revenge kind of reminds me a tad of Damages - The twists, turns and the like. Revenge is my fave show of the mo, by far. Once upon a time, a close second. Very glad both are picked up for a fta run (E4 & C5 respectively). Can't wait!!!

Channel 5 are doing quite well with the acquisitions as of late aren't they? The Lying game should of been put on channel 5 instead of back benched to 5*.

Yes, but it's unlikely to work

Men of a Certain Age. Only lasted 2 seasons but I thought it was good. Sort of a Fiftysomething. Showed that Ray Romano was/is a good actor.

Yep, as other has stated... this is the key one to me. Maybe it wouldn't find an audience over here? We're still in our 'sitcoms should have 6 episodes and no arcs' feel even with all the imports, but P&R has the best story arcs of all the network shows and is probably the best sitcom on the big four at the moment. Including Community, which I love.

His show is absolutely fantastic, it would be cheap to import and it doesn't matter that a fair chunk of the guests wouldn't be recognised because I doubt many American's recognise them either! Plus we all know Geoff Peterson from the More Than Freeman commercials. It really is a no thinker, just buy it!

As for me...

Workaholics has been lots of fun, they're cranking out episodes pretty quickly too and would fit an MTV/E4 kind of network over here.

Does Awkward? air anywhere? I've only seen a bit but it seemed fun, and I need to catch up before S2 starts airing.

Louie, as mentioned by others. Incredible show, especially given how he writers, performs, directs and stars in it himself (up until s2 anyway, he has an editor now).

Not sure if Anthony Bourdain's "The Layover" is aired anywhere, but that's a wonderful show and I can't wait for season 2 of it. Him and Alton Brown are pretty much the only time I care about people talking about food. Sod Masterchef and all that lot!

Bunheads, will probably end up on C4 or a variant if ratings across the first season don't collapse. It's the second coming of Gilmore Girls, what else could anyone want?

Childrens Hospital, Eagleheart, Newsreaders etc the 10 minute run Adult Swim shows that all kinda spin off from each other. All very funny with excellent cast.

Chat Show Imports DO NOT work. Letterman's been tried multiple times and has failed every single time, The Daily Show semi-failed on More4 and has been moved to a channel with lower expectations (presumably for a long drawn out death), Colbert got dropped due to the hard work in compliance for a daily show, Ellen has bounced around channels, finally found one with low enough expectations but a big enough budget to remain on air...

ITV better get a refund on Jonathan Ross then! Ditto the Beeb with Graham Norton, neither of whom (while both entertaining) can hold a candle to Craig.

Have you ever seen Craig's show? It's very different to Letterman, Leno etc. And I wouldn't really say Daily Show is a 'chat show', despite being part of late night.

Note the phrase 'Chat Show Imports' which would exclude both Norton and Ross, as they both originate in the UK. I think the main reason they fail is not because they're considered low quality but because they receive very little promotion and are daily, meaning viewers are expected to invest more time to the show than they usually would.

Technically The Daily Show is considered a Chat Show, makes very little sense, but that's what it is.

Also, I forgot to mention Jimmy Fallon is used as filler on CNBC.

Stewart brings in guests for a "chat," so of course it is a chat show -- or talk show, as the term is on my side of the Atlantic.

So does Jeremy Paxman, but nobody would primarily call Newsnight a 'chat show' or 'talk show'. The guest on Daily Show is for easy promotion and filling up 10 minutes a night so the writers don't die from exhaustion, everyone tuning in does so because of the the 2 sections of the show (unless someone they really like is the guest, but usually nobody cares).

Somehow missed the word 'imports' in the quote, not sure how. Apologies.

I agree about the amazing race and survivor. I have been hooked on them for a while. We don't have tv companies to stump up the cash for UK versions, but I am happy with the US ones! I watch them online religiously and have even gone back and watched old seasons.

Great stuff

Sadly the UK version of survivor was ruined by ITV wanting to show it at random times several days in the week instead of one really good show on a sunday or whatever. We also needed a brilliant host like Jeff Probst and instead we got one charisma free news presenter after another

I assume the us versions would be cheap to buy in? Challenge has rights on one season of the amazing race which they show occasionally.

Jeremy Paxman is a journalist, not a comedian. Stewart is a professional comedian just like Leno, Letterman, and Conan. Since Stewart's show is half as long as the others, of course there is less time to devote to the guest. I acknowledge that the Daily Show is different than the other three, but ultimately they are all late night shows hosted by comedians who do their comedy shtick before talking to a guest or guests.

Yup, another one utterly confused why White Collar hasn't been picked up for season two and three as four is just about to start airing in the US in the next couple of weeks. It's a quality production.
