Lets discuss

Now dont get me wrong the guy is a nice guy but even on X Factor didnt see his appeal

For me he is not a popstar and will never be. More cheese factor then X factor. For that reason he is a Music waste of space in my eyes. Sorry Marcus

Another karaoke singer seriously not needed in the world of music, who will be propped up by those foolish enough to be sucked in by that programme.

He can sing and dance well, but on his debut the material let him down. He's not a sensation...yet

Everyone with talent deserves a chance. Unlike most, he can actually sing well.

a musical waste of space, that is a little harsh. he`s pretty talented and he`s prepared to work hard. however, i kind of see him more of a `west end` star for some reason and not a pop star. there`s nothing wrong with that and many x factor acts have been there before him.

i feel he lacks his own identity visually and musically.

What about Rebecca Ferguson? She's from the show and is far from karaoke.

Marcus is okay, just needs better material.

I'd agree with this. I think musical theatre rather than poo stardom beckons. He can sing ok but there's nothing unique or different about him.

Matt Cardle is a glorified busker.

Her voice is massively overrated by her fans.

I've always thought that Tyler James was just as good if not better than Olly Murs, but then Tyler wasn't on x-factor, Marcus Collins is just another "like so and so" singer.

Or possibly massively underrated by you.

I think he seems like a genuinely nice guy... but I strongly believe he's a glorified Karaoke singer who brings zilch to the industry, and no emotion to his songs. After this album... I think he might just fade away. He won't have an album ready for Autumn when the other finalists are coming along with theirs, so he'll be forgotten about if he turns up in Spring with another album. He'll be seen as dated. It didn't bode well for the severely more talented/unique/promising Diana Vickers. "Songs..." got to #1 but didn't sell particularly well in the long run, but Marcus isn't even destined for a #1, or even Top 5 this weekend.

You're. If you're going to insult me, at least do it properly.

I really hope all these people criticizing him have listened to the album. Whilst I wasn't completely blown away by it, it has certainly grown on me after a few listens. SNA is one of my least favourites - the eight original tracks are all better suited to him.

It certainly does not deserve to be the lowest charting of all the post XF debut albums - not when Tesco Mary can churn out a soulless collection of typical cover tracks. I just hope he is not dropped by the label - so far it seems like he's following the same pattern as Joe McElderry post XF.

musical sensation LOL.. his cover of seven nation army is one of the worst covers of all time.... Its funny when x factor people come off the show and declare that they want to be their own artist etc and they come out with crap songs like this

That is what I meant by karaoke singers, as in singing covers. Yeah, they might have some original songs too, but when you need to rely on a cover as your debut single, to me it just seems so pointless.

Not all xf acts cover songs on their albums though? The majority don't.
Obviously the winners do because that's apart of the show.

And if artists who cover songs are not original what about the likes of Birdy?

It's not even an original cover.

It's a copy of this

I don't like her. Look, I'm not against covers. Siouxsie and the Banshees cover of The Beatles song Dear Prudence is one of my favourite songs, for example. I just don't enjoy the bulk of X Factor produce, I don't think they are conducive to creativity, originality or longevity.

Well, it's too early to say. Considering that most who won (bar Leona, Alex and Matt) have not much to offer, we can't say. We must keep looking. The reason most aren't conducive to the 3 elements, is that they aren't entertainers. There has only been one who can really put on a show. Nowadays NO ONE is original really. Too much has been done. Also, bar Rebecca,, 1D and Alex, none of them are business people. They don't have business savvy. They are ordinary people. And that is their downfall. Also, If you're not simon's favourite, you're international ambitions are f*&ked really (as Alex can attest) even if your material is decent.
