She literally begged and blagged her way through to the second round!

Her audition was appauling - really cringe worthy.

And now Im reading about how she is the most credible artist to come out a reality show, oh please...

(Have we all forgotten Lemar - genuine raw talent to come out of a reality show. Makes amazing music and does a lot for charity. A true star.)

Yeah right ..... your opinion of Lemar is just that, your opinion.

Lemar is too wheezy, airey and talentless .... he has the charisma of a toad.

That's my opinion.

Okay well forget the Lemar reference then as its not relevant to this show.

But Rowetta, and dont get me wrong, I dont mind her, so you can put your claws away Chrisb52.

All Im saying is lets not forget how much she has come on, she didn't come into the competition as an amazing singer she came in as a bit of a joke.

So I just find it a bit unbelievable that she is being tagged as the most credible artist from a tv reality show....

That's all.

Let's keep toys in prams, eh?

As I recall, Steve had to come back for a second audition, Verity nearly didn't get through, Pete Waterman said no to Will at his first audition, David Sneddon got through on Fame accademy as a reserve and I'm sure there are others that I have forgotten. So what does that prove? I don't think it makes any difference, if nobody likes her she won't get very far. If they do, she will.

Angie, I agree with you.

I think its fine when people get through by the skin of their teeth and get overlooked then make it big.

But I do not agree with the opinion that she is the most credible artist to come out of a reality tv show.

I repeat: My point is, I do not agree with the opinion that she is the most credible artist to come out of a reality tv show

To be honest, I'm not sure what a 'credible artist' is. On the other thread about Rowetta, someone said it was because she had been in this business for a while. I know the Grants on Fame academy used the word in every sentence that held the name Alex. She hasn't been in the business for the lengh of time that Rowetta has. Can I say that Steve is the only 'credible artist' because at the moment he is the only one I like? Sorry I don't get what makes a credible artist.

I'm with you on this Angie It's just all blah blah blah on whether credible or not an artist maybe but bottomline is whoever rocks your boat is all I can say & of course combined with a singing talent is a bonus!

Erm .... I don't think it is just Laura90210's opinion - Lemar won the Brit award for best urban act in 2004 I would say that would give him more credibility than most.

Change the word "credible" to REAL...then you get a statement that translates better to the partisans of XF.
I really think that is what is meant by credible...or as I say,Rowetta is "FLAWED BUT FABULOUS!!",you'll do for me girl (XXXhugs)

PIV you keep using the word 'real', I'm not sure what you mean by it? Aren't they all 'real' or are some of them automatons and I haven't noticed?

You know you made some valid points and then you had to go and ruin it by bringing up Lemar. Do we have to wait for the punchline to your joke?

I should think Rowetta(ok maybe Steve too) is the only contestant who could do a whole show all by herself. She's the only one I'd buy a ticket to see 'in concert'.

Aha, so real for you is someone who has been around a while and has some experience. That's fine if that's what floats your boat, but we would miss out on a lot of talent if everyone had to meet that criteria.

Me I just like them or I don't, now, in this competition, I don't give a flying fig where they've been, what they've done, I'm just interested in whether they have enough to go forwards.

Ro's peronality and 'mad' thing has always been against her. This HAS to be the case, 'cause the poor woman is stifled at every opportunity now. Yes, she may have begged and cried etc....so did many who didn't get through. Ro did!

I think Ro got through because she's bloody good - if she hadn't been good, the personality issue would have sent her packing.

I'd just like to see Ro be more herself again.

I think it's an excellent point that Angie makes though.....all the peeps who were doubtful and have done well. Just shows you what the judges opinions are worth sometimes....

Who cares about how she got through the second round??? That was weeks ago????

Everyone at times has a rough performance, look at tabby, he sucked during bootcamp and Sharon gave him another chance. although in my opinion, she has been great all throughout the compeitition and didnt have a bad performane at all.

She deserves to be in this compeitition and it would be far less interesting without her.

GO ROWETTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simon didn't have to put her in the last 15...5...3 did he?! The point is she got through because Simon thought she should. The show is called The X Factor and we are supposed to be voting for who we think has it. Personally I think Rowetta has it by the bucketload, which is why I am backing her all the way. I appreciate other people don't agree, at the end may the best (wo)man win - regardless of what they did/went through to get there!
Go Ro!

they were encouraged to "rant" on to the judges,it was edited to make her look like she was begging and that she was really desperate.does it really matter what happened at the audition, the main thing is shes got the X Factor, which is what the shows about.

You make a good point.

It depends on what is meant by "credible".
I've explained what I think a "credible artist" is in my view. But I think it's often at odds with what these programme's definition is.

And no, I don't think it's just about the amount of time one has spent working in the past alone (although it helps). I think it's more important what has been learnt, developed, and to what level of ability has been acheived.

It was the repetition of Alex Parks being touted continually as a "credible artist" that made me think of the post in the first place, to see what the term "credibility" means to different people, and to where and who it can be applied to.
