Leave the eggs and butter out at room temp ..baking cakes
This trick really does work..If you leave the eggs and butter( or marg) out at room temp, it really does make a difference..I made some fairy cakes yesterday and just had one now, and its still so fresh..Normally i get thm straight from the fridge and start baking, but as they still chilled they make the cake(s) go that awful harder texture..Anyone else try it and see the difference..Get them out of the fridge first thing though, then start baking later..

I never store eggs in the fridge and I always have a packet of butter at room temperature on the go.
What I mean is,maybe I should try the opposite and notice the difference.

I've never kept eggs or butter in the fridge anyway.
I was rather surprised to find that people do. If I put butter in the fridge it becomes rock-hard and impossible to spread

Using eggs and butter at room temp obviously makes your mix easier to stir, therefore ensuring a very smooth and even mixture for your cakes, which is always a good thing.

I never keep my eggs in the fridge...they have pores in them so they'll pick up fridge scent. I rarely have "real" butter in the house other than if I've got it in to make something. Therefore, I keep my Lurpack spreadable in the fridge!

I never keep my eggs in the fridge either. I keep my butter & spreads but if I'm going to bake I'll take the butter out the night before or early in the morning - it does make a difference IMO. The eggs are even better when poaching/frying or whatever you use them for.

I never keep eggs in the fridge, I also never keep butter in the fridge either unless I buy a few blocks & aren't going to be using them straight away. I use marg from making sponge cakes & cupcakes but take it out of the fridge the night before so its really soft as it whips up lovely with the sugar.

Same as most, I don't keep my eggs in the fridge - my gran said it made the yolks more prone to bursting if you did and just like big hard lad I only buy butter for specific recipes. That said when I do buy it, I do keep it in the fridge till an hour before I plan to use it.

I keep them in the original box which stops them picking up any taint from other things in the fridge. |
