Dusty Springfield - Every Day I Have To Cry

Just had to share this song on the music forum

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARrPxlVlP-Y

An amazing song by Dusty which she recorded for her A girl Called Dusty sessions but never made it. But when the album was re-released back in 1997, it made the album.

It just easily reminds you why Dusty was and still is a pure and rare talent that we can be proud to say came out of the UK.

I had Memphis and a GH for years gathering dust - only got into her last Christmas when I got the boxset....now she's one of my favourite singers. Obsessed with her - have all the 60's albums - and the last 2 - downloaded the 70's and 80's stuff. Have DVD's, books......annoyed I didn't get into her sooner

Personally I love 'Going back', it's beautiful but then I love everything she has done.

Trivia: Ivor Raymonde was her arranger and his son Simon Raymonde was the bassist to the Cocteau Twins from 84 onwards.

The Ike and Tina Turner version of Every Day I Have To Cry is interesting. Produced by the legendary Phil Spector and off their classic 1966 River Deep Mountain High album.

It's good and there was another version by Julie Grant, issued on Pye in 1964, also worth a listen

and the original by Steve Alaimo (1963)

By the way I'm gutted they've removed Dusty's The Look of Love from an episode of Mad Men because it is 'anachronistic'.

Are they kidding? It's not a documentary!

If you read the BBC item again...
".......But reviewers pointed out the track was not released until six months after the episode was set".

Set in the right context his decision does make sense.

I know that, I'm just disappointed they will remove the song from the episode.
