do 3 horses count...placepot wise....in an 8 horse race? i.e 8.00 lingfield
That said I'm certain the answer is yes, but don't take any notice of me because I only know about stuff that happened about 100 years ago. Even that knowledge could be considered a trifle sketchy. |

Snow Bride, one of only 2 fillies to win the Oaks who didn't pass the post first. The decision led to the Aga Khan, whose filly Aliysa was disqualified, withdrawing his horses from England for many years.

Wollow. 1976 2,000 Guineas, Sussex, Eclipse (on a disqualification) and International Stakes winner. He reportedly cost punters £7m when finishing fifth as the 11/10 favourite in the Derby. From some comments Cecil made Wollow may in his view have been the best miler he trained prior to Frankel, he was Cecil's last 2,000 winner before Frankel. I reckon the horse to take that accolade was Kris.

Fitzsimmons, Jim - trained 3 Kentucky Derby winners, the second of which was Triple Crown victor Omaha in 1935.
Omaha was the last winner of the Kentucky Derby to run at Royal Ascot. In 1936 the horse came over to be trained by Cecil Boyd-Rochfort (stepfather of Henry Cecil) for the Gold Cup. He won a couple of prep races at Kempton but came up short at Ascot going down narrowly to 1935 Oaks winner Quashed. |
