A more permanent course was established on nearby Seamer Moor in 1868 but the track closed in 1907.

Owner Paul Reddam has in the past had horses with British trainers notably Breeders' Cup winners Wilko (Jeremy Noseda, 2004 Juvenile) and Red Rocks (Brian Meehan, Turf winner in 2006).

Reddam is the founder of the payday loan company CashCall.
