How can you single him out, they're pretty much all in the same irritating mould, same as most on Channel4.
Yes they'd all be too embarrassed to ask Peter O'Sullivan how he managed it almost single-handedly.

Bruni - 1975 St Leger winner.

Bruni is Italian for brown so it was an odd name for a horse that was conspicuously grey.

Queenpot - a variant of poker in which a pair of queens is required to open.

Hence the name of 1948 1,000 Guineas winner Queenpot (by Big Game out of Poker Chip).

Stable Lads Strike - disrupted the 1975 Guineas Meeting (sorry - Festival) where Willie Carson got decked off a horse called Pericet.

The lads were striking over pay. At the time a local stable lad's average wage was £28 a week (£140 in today's money).

(Because of damage to the course on the Saturday the 2,000 Guineas was started by flag. Bolkonski got a flyer which helped him go on and win.)

Umberto D - named after a 1952 film directed by Vittorio De Sica.

Unfortunately, and purely on the basis of how old it makes me feel, I also remember Sica Dan.

Vilprano....who could cope with 4.5 furlongs with another 3 miles tacked on.

^ Yes. When your memories of these horses come in monochrome like mine it's a salutory reminder of the advancing years.

It's probably time for both of us to reflect on our own mortality, meditate deeply on the meaning of life and wonder why the hell we should leave money to people when we can spend it before we go.

On a less philosophical note I give you:

Well Bottom - an exercise track by the Limekilns in Newmarket.
