Kicked to death by a horse was ex-Irish trainer Sue Doyle

Lead Weights - inserted into the pockets of racing saddles which are located under the flaps.

Typically 1lb of lead for this purpose costs about £6 which is really quite expensive considering that Tesco only charges about £1.20 for 4½ lb of sugar.

If the racing industry made horses carry bags of Tate & Lyle instead of lead then by my calculations it could save, er, a lot of money on weights.

Magnificient Star, 1991 Yorkshire Oaks winner.

I like the sugar idea but I suspect so would the horses.

New Zealand jockey James McDonald is facing a ban for a positive drugs test last month. He claims residue found in his system was the fault of a misinterpration of new, cheaper weights being used that contained brown sugar.

Question Time for Frankel and the name of an Irish NH horse which in 16 starts accumulated the princely sum of £1,682 from 2 placed efforts.

Will he or won't he, head for the Arc. Surely they must after what was his best ever performance and he looks like he'd get a mile and half no bother.

What a finale that would be for Frankel's career and I suspect Sir Henry Cecil's.

York Racecourse - scene of the execution of notorious highwayman Dick Turpin.

The racehorse of the same name ran once at York finishing 5th of 9 to Rip Van Winkle in the 2010 Juddmonte International.

I've never doubted his ability to stay middle distances, his breeding and whole racing style is to produce whatever is needed whenever it's needed.....a real class act. I think he could win the Arc even if it came up on the soft side. If he was Irish they'd be calling him like they did Arkle, "Himself". As for Henry, I hope the treatment he's having works and we see him for years to come.

Zeisel, Henry, owned Rheingold.

Benandonner...well named, his sire being Giants Causeway, thereby making the connection to the Finn McCool story in which the Scottish giant Benendonner reputedly destroyed a causeway between Scotland and Ireland.

G'day for the Aussies with Ortensia in my view putting up the performance of the week to win the Nunthorpe from what looked a hopeless possie on ground connections thought had blown any chance.
