Nap - a tipster's best bet of the day.
The origin of this word is probably related to the card game Napoleon, a simple trick taking game in which each player is dealt five cards. A player who is almost certain he can take all five tricks says, "Nap". |

Warwick which Ryan Moore was critical of after his fall there has dealt his chances to regain the jockey's title a big blow.

Ystrad Mynach...there's an earth sculpture there of a pit pony called Sultan which was probably named after the early 19c famous thoroughbred of that name.

Zingari - 1967 Northern Dancer colt & winner of the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes in 1970.
Zingari is Italian for gypsies so really the horse should have been named Zingara (gypsy), mainly because there was only one of it. |

Avison....2.00 Ripon, today. If you don't like it, try Auto Mac in the same race.

Chaddy The Owl - Oldham Athletic's controversial talisman, winner of the Mascot Grand National over a trip of 1 furlong and 6 fences at Huntingdon in 2002 & 2003.
As a Blackpool supporter I have a bitter grudge against Chaddy. In December 2003 the bird was involved in an ugly fracas with Bloomfield Bear in a 2nd round FA Cup clash at Boundary Park, where Chaddy brutally tore off Bloomfield's head without any apparent provocation. I'm not normally a vindictive person but I hope Oldham drop as far down the football pyramid as possible, taking Chaddy with them. Chaddy has other form. In late 2000 he was severely admonished for mooning at Cardiff City fans. In 2006 the Owl was ejected from Doncaster Rovers' old Belle Vue ground for "inciting a riot" and "making obscene gestures at the crowd". To be fair, though, Chaddy was unlucky to be mistakenly flagged offside by a linesman in a game against Peterborough in early 2000. As he said at the time, "Fair enough, I did have a replica shirt on but I also have a big furry head." |

Epsom Flyer who didn't live up to his name when trailing in last over 5f at Epsom today despite getting a stone in weight with a jockey claiming 5lbs up.
