Frankel whose next race connections have confirmed will be the Champion Stakes. Very disappointing imo as that will be just ano facile victory as opposed to seeing him the Arc. The fact they said 'next' and not 'last' does however give a glimmer of hope he may run again.

Incitatus - horse owned by Caligula (Roman Emperor 37AD - 41AD).
Caligula is reported to have spent a lot of time at the Circo Massimo watching races in which Incitatus took part. The horse allegedly lived in a marble stable and ate oats mixed with gold flake from an ivory manger. |

Kondrat, Adam - Polish jockey and rider of The Fellow.
The horse was beaten a short head in both the 1991 & 1992 Cheltenham Gold Cups then ran 4th in 1993, after which Kondrat was heavily criticised by some sections of the press (especially a fat bloke with thick sideburns and a notable lack of dress sense). Kondrat rode a fine race to finally get The Fellow home in front the following year, a just reward for persistence on the part of horse, rider & trainer Francois Doumen. |

My Stable, the Life's new free service which emails you when your selected horses, trainers or jockeys are in action. It doesn't appear to be sponsored by a bookmaker.

Sticky Toffee Pudding Novices' Hurdle - run at Cartmel's late May Bank Holiday meeting.
Possibly the most delicious race title in the history of race titles. |

Vallée Enchantée - unlucky in running in the 2004 Coronation Cup but owner Alec Wildenstein decided that jockey Dominique Boeuf was 'an asshole' and fired him on the spot.
Thus the luckless Boeuf joined a long list of top class riders to fall foul of the Wildensteins, a family once described by Lester Piggott as, 'inveterate bad losers'. The previous year Vallée Enchantée had gained her only Group 1 success in the Hong Kong Vase. |

XXVI - number of Jockeys Championships won by Gordon Richards.
Only three other riders won the title between 1925 & 1953 (including wartime seasons). |

Alice Keppel Handicap - a listed race for fillies run at Goodwood in June.
Judith Keppel (of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire fame) had a great-grandfather who was the 8th Earl of Albermarle. He was Alice's brother-in-law and Alice herself was a long-time mistress of Edward VII. |

Corporal Clinger - trained by Martin Pipe, won what is now the Boylesports International Hurdle in 1985.
This contest has the second richest purse for a hurdle race after the Champion Hurdle. Corporal Clinger is presumably named after the cross-dressing soldier in Mash. |
