Derby - horse racing at Derby began in the mid-18th century, the venue changing a couple of times until it switched to the Racecourse Ground in the mid-19th century.

Despite good crowds (10,000 attended the last day in August 1939) the Council refused to renew the lease post-war preferring instead to expand the cricket ground which was, and still is, inside the racecourse.

The Racecourse Ground was also the home of Derby County Football Club until they moved to the Baseball Ground in 1895.

EQuus - genus of animals that includes horses.

There have been at least 9 racehorses called Equus so all those owners have basically called their horses 'Horse'.

Unraced at three as in Harbour Watch whose connections have finally admitted defeat with the injury that fractured a hind leg at the end of last season and have retired him to stud.

MuZZle - here is a photo of a racehorse wearing a muzzle that to me looks exactly like a spaghetti strainer I have in my kitchen.
