Approval - winner of the 1969 Racing Post Trophy and Henry Cecil's first Derby runner in 1970.

The colt finished 7th behind Nijinsky. He apparently failed to act on the course but the 1970 field oozed class and Approval could probably have finished no better that 4th whatever the track.

Dogs Up - Or 'The dogs are up', referring to the rubber traffic cones placed at certain distances out from the inner rail when the track is wet, muddy, soft, yielding or heavy, to prevent horses during the workout period from churning the footing along the rail. (US).

Pleasure Beach - home to the only operational steeplechase-type rollercoaster in the world.

Riders sit on a vehicle that looks vaguely like a horse and are taken round an undulating track. The Steeplechase was opened by Red Rum in 1977.

(There's a 96 sec video of some people riding on it here but I really wouldn't bother watching it if I were you.)

This game seems to function by means of a winding mechanism attached to the horses thereby moving them along the track.
