Good one.

It's a shame we'll never see it on a racecourse (he's not a thoroughbred) but, widening the topic a little, I'm wondering if there has ever been a winning pure white thoroughbred racehorse in this country. There was one foaled in Australia back in 2007 that fetched $270,000 at a yearling sale in 2008. He won one race from about ten. I tried to locate a video of the colt racing but none was available. Watching a pure white in action must be a spectacular sight, and I can't help but think of Desert Orchid in his final years as a close comparison.

Sir Henry who was looking a bit better yesterday which was great to see and I'm sure he had a tear in eye as he welcomed home the best horse he's ever had for the last time.

Minting - colt by Triple Crown winner Lord Lyon foaled 1883.

Although top-rated 2-y-o in 1885 (a vintage year for the juvenile division) he proved inferior to Ormonde at 3 and 4. In the 1886 2,000 Guineas Minting was beaten 2l (the pair 10l clear) and in the 1887 Hardwicke Stakes Ormonde prevailed by a neck.

Contemporary reports suggest that Minting would have won 9 Derbys out of 10 but he gave Ormonde a swerve in 1886 going instead for the Grand Prix de Paris which he won in a canter.
